Yes, I REALLY enjoyed it! One of Caine's finest performances of recent years, if not overall. Excellent film!

Jeremy Clarkson: Greatest Raid of All Time
BBC 2
Sunday 29th June 2008
21:00 to 22:00

Jeremy Clarkson tells the story of what has been called 'the original Mission Impossible' - the audacious commando raid on the German occupied dry dock at St Nazaire in France on March 28th 1942. Operation Chariot, as the raid was codenamed, had a simple aim: to destroy the dry dock and thus deny the German battleship Tirpitz a safe haven on the Atlantic coast of France.

But he will be watching Turn of the Tide .... a sea-faring drama filmed on location in Robin Hood's Bay with Wilfred Lawson.

Love or loath Clarkson you have to admire his presentation on this. He was obviously very passionate about the subject and I for one got very excited over a docu/drama which is very unusual for me. My God those men had guts.

I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.

Well there's sweet FA on the box tonight, so I'll have a rummage through my DVD collection.

Might give John Huston's "The Dead" another outing.

It was a great documentary, although I'm always made a bit sad by the beginning where Clarkson reveals that he'd never heard of it and so he assumes it isn't generally very well known. I knew about it from when I were but a lad. My Dad had an HMSO booklet about it. One of a series about raids during WWII

It's actually a book group led by a contestant from Celebrity Big Brother, Germaine Greer
