There was a stage version of the same story at the National called Cleo, Camping, Emmanuelle and Dick. Is that the original title you're thinking of?

The stage play was excellent but so was the tv version. I especially liked Samantha's Spiro's seamless morphing into the real Babs.

The stage version was somewhat panned by the crits at the time. The title was changed to give the TV version a chance.

Thats the joke that killed the Music Hall !

I think I'll watch Alive and Kicking again because it's mad! I'd archived it off of home recorded VHS tapes onto DVD some time ago and it's been staring at me from the top of a small pile, for ages now.

Think I'll watch "George Gently", postponed from last Sunday, and record "Midsomer Murders"

Even when reading the books you have to do that

Lee Ingleby was excellent. I liked Robert Glenister and Pooky Quesnel too ...... and Tony Rohr always gives quailty performances

Stanley Kubrick's Boxes

More4; Tues 15 July 2008 10pm
A biography of a remarkably talented man as seen though the rich collection of material he left behind.

Stanley Kubrick's films were landmark events – majestic, memorable and richly researched. But, as the years went by, the time between films grew longer and longer, and less and less was seen of the director. What on earth was he doing?

Two years after Kubrick's death, Jon Ronson was invited to the director's estate to explore the hundreds of boxes the legendary film director had collected during his decades at Childwick Manor in Hertfordshire. He's been returning ever since, and the story of Kubrick and the archive, now housed at University of the Arts London, is revealed in this fascinating documentary.

Ronson asks: is it possible to get to understand such a man – and his extraordinary working methods – by looking through the hundreds of boxes he left behind?

Just finished watching "The Snorkel ", what an excellent sense of atmosphere and an excellent ending, Peter Van Eyck gives a chilling performance.

Should be released so a wider audience can appreciate this overlooked Hammer gem.
