Morley's book is the better written but to me both books were reasonably sympathetic to their subject. Alot of Morley's content was speculation (it always is with him - he just doesn't let the reader know) and Lords' is better researched from that point of view. Neither are hagiographies and neither hachett jobs - just written in different eras. I think people have been harsh on the Lord bio - the info missing from Morley's book on Hjordis is necessary for a full picture and I feel he is relatively neutral - others judge her in quotes (Robert Wagner/Roger Moore) but I don't feel that Lord is especially unfair to her himself.

Tonight the Top of The Pops 1978 Christmas Show on BBC4. I enjoyed last night's Top of The Pops show from Boxing Day 1967.

Episode 2 of City of Vice. I enjoyed episode 1, it was sufficiently different and well produced to be worth a second look.

Kaleidoscope - 60's London caper movie. Never seen it before - very dated for sure but I hope very stylish. Not mad on Beatty but a young Susannah York with Eric Porter and Clive Revill in support might make for a pleasant few hours.

Default Love the social realist stuff from British film

Though it doesn't look to be of the social realist school Only Two Can Play was based on a Kingsley Amis novel. I have had a VHS version on my shelf for months and not looked at it. Maybe I've had too much of the Peter Sellers loverboy character - and I hope that it is in NTSC.
