You'll pick up Unearthly Stranger here or Ebay. I'd highly recommend it as the story relies on atmosphere and mounting tension rather than ropey sfx.

Zardoz is well worth watching, lots of ideas going on in the film, maybe too many even by director John Boormans own admition but very entertaining and not bad at all. The Final Programme is a film based on the literary character Jerry Cornelius as penned by well known sci fi author Michael Moorcock. Made in the early seventies, it was directed by Robert Faust who also directed Vincent Price in the Dr Phibes films so there is a similar feel to that. I liked "The Final Programme" though writer Moorcock absoluteley hated the film version of his work and fell out with director Faust over his treatment of his popular book and as a result I believe Moorcock has avoided allowing any of his work to be translated into film since. Its worth watching though. And yes, the James Caan version of Rollerball was filmed in Europe and was based at Pinewood, not really a Brit film per se, American director Norman Jewisson, but certainly a British film crew.

You'll do well to find a copy of No Blade of Grass. I haven't seen it on Tv for twenty years and no DVD release. Shattering film though. Even better is the original book.

I always thought The Damned was very effective.

Then, of course there is a wealth of classic British TV SF: pick of the best IMHO would be Survivors. The Changes is interesting too.

Especially the early episodes of Survivors. After the first few series it just became a soap opera about live in a small community with little reference to the problems outside

I do like Zardoz, though, especially the theme, a choral arrangement of Beethoven by David Munrow.
