During One Night - '62 curiosity
Did anyone else catch this seeming obscurity, broadcast on Friday night on BBC2?
RT mentions "whiff of controversy" re "taboo topics of virginity & impotence". I was more amazed by the nudity; how did this get a certificate in 1962?
The film "introduces" us to its two stars Susan Hampshire and Don Borisenko (whatever happened to...?). If this was a mainstream circuit film, Mr Furie was generously allowed a creative approach. The quality of acting is variable throughout, but our lad Don does a very interesting Tony Perkins twitchiness cum Bluffer's Method Approach, with some scenes apparently containing impro and even Miss Hampshire doing her bit of, er... h, h, hesitation
Whatever its strangeness, sad to think such sincere creative ambition would not find a cinema screen now.
Any thoughts?
