Just joined today and can't post on the relevant thread due to some electronic nonsense.
Anyway SCHALKEN THE PAINTER and many of the other Ghost Stories for Christmas made by the BBC in the 1970's are all available on DVD on the wonderful ALL BRITISH website raretv.co.uk. That's raretv dot co dot uk. They also have many TV shows from the 1960's-70's-80's-90's, all on DVD. Although why anyone would want most of these is beyond me- yet there is something that sticks in the mind in us all, for whatever reason, from whatever source. I recall an interview with the late great Jimmy Stewart, he said that some people came up to him over the years, and didn't want to discuss the finer points of Hitchcock, or his attitude towards rear projection or anything usual. They would just say, in that film--- whatever it was- "when I got out the car and closed the door, I just looked at the house--and for them that was it- they really felt it" They were truly moved by it.
