Yes, mainly. That's where it was meant to be set.
A few scenes were filmed in other places in the Barnsley area of South Yorkshire like Hoyland (Billy's house) and Tankersley (the farm where he sees the kestrels). The school is the one now called Edward Sheerien school in Barnsley Steve |

Totally agree with the Kes PE scene and also the Dunstan & Dudley Dorchester scene from "School for scoundrels"....I'd also like to nominate about 3/4 of the script for Cook/Moore's "Bedazzled"

The vast majority of the film was shot in and around Barnsley as Steve mentions but I think that some of the busy street scenes and the bookshop scene were filmed in Sheffield. Whether this was because Barnsley didn't have a bookshop I wouldn't like to say! |
