Shared by me .... I found it to be one of those films with much to admire, but not a lot to like.

Hello Folks. This is my first Post and so true to form will be controversal ( I think). The most over rated, most over televised and most embarassing films made are 'the Carry On...' Series after 1966. If I hear anybody else rabbiting on about 'Busty' Babs (if that's busty I'm an Adonis!) or accidently spot fat middle aged men lusting after 20 year old starlets on yet another dull bank holiday or hear any more lavatorial jokes I shall scream. Once the original production team team broke up (and that includes Bruce Montogomery's Scores) the whole rep company thing went the way of the Rank Studios. The core cast were all funnier in non-Carry On comedies and the series broke Charles Hawtrey and kenneth Williams Careers.

I will leave others to respond to the Carry on comments, but having seen your 'handle' for one moment I thought you were saying that Hue and Cry was overated, great name by the way

Watched it last night. Glad I've now seen it but to be honest I wasn't that impressed either as the levels of pretentiousness were off the scale. You could say it was very much of its time but a film like Kes was made a year later and yet has retained some semblance of relevancy in the modern age. I guess you had to be there.

I watched it again during this week to see why it has so many fans and I still don't get it.

The reason the Italian Job is still talked about and watched today is because it was a good film. It had everything, action, comedy, car chases and crime. I have to say, I didn't much like the ending and thought at the time it was made that way to keep the door open for "The Italian Job 2" but I'm glad it never happened. The American imposter is a joke compared to the original, imo.

I would nominate "Chariots of Fire" a very dull film with a very dull score.

i disagree,i avoided this film for years but watched it for the first time recently and was pleasantly surprised, the tacky synthesizer score has dated the film a little but i think 'chariots of fire' was worthy of the accolades. i would nominate the horrible 'bridget jones diary'-any film including hugh grant is always over-rated.

the scenario was just craaazy. you only had to be a small boy, playing with dinky cars on the sofa or setting up train crashes with your brothers hornsby set to "get it" for a film with mini's racing over the roofs, being run up the back of a lorry.

and the element of the jail-boss running things from 'inside' just rang so true to life (even though of course, it took the advent of the mobile phone to make this actually even remotely plausible)

it was in the tradition of 'the league of gentlemen' which also has some quite stunningly awful acting in it.

so count this as +1 "shouting down" because I think this one is not a worst-of-all-time player!

I am baffled by your statement here George. Who do you think is awful in this film. With the possible exception of Ollie Reed as a camp dancer, I think the cast is excellent.
