Default Parents' film link

Watching Irene on television today (half colour/half black and white ),reminded me of my dad telling he once served under Anna Neagle's father,Captain Robertson,in the Merchant Navy during the war.
My late mother came from Cornwall, and lived in one of the two houses overlooking King Harry Ferry on the river Fal.
She remembered when Alfred Hitchcock made Jamaica Inn with Charles Laughton in 1939. She had met Charles Laughton, albeit briefly, and found him horrible (she was only in her early teens). Likewise when mam and dad visited Cornwall circa 1950 and Walt Disney was making Treasure Island nearby. I believe a family friend,Mrs Anthony, made teas for some of the crew. My mam recalls seeing Robert Newton, she found him horrible too.

Fascinating stuff Marky! Even more so because I only live about 10 mins away from the K.H. ferry and all around my immediate area has quite a reputation for films and filming locations. Just about everyone in my town knows somebody who has worked as an extra on various productions, usually two or three times a year word goes out that people are wanted at suchaplace making suchathing. It's very gratifying living in an area where so much film activity goes on and of course, like in your case there is so much film history. :) Regards, Decks.
