The first half of the TV series OUT starring the late Tom Bell. Made me realise just what a loss his passing was...

I re-watched Out a few weeks go. Great series. Tom Bell has cropped up in three films I have watched recently ... Prize of Arms, Payroll and Violent Enemy. He was a great actor and I am sure that, if he had heckled the DOE at an wards ceremony his star would have shone brighter.

I hadn't seen OUT since it was first transmitted and am thoroughly enjoying it. PAYROLL is a cracking film...

Last night I watched the 1960 Edgar Wallace Mystery film Marriage of Convenience starring Harry H Corbett, John Cairney, John van Eyssen, Moira Redmond, Russell Waters & Jennifer Daniel. I love watching the Edgar Wallace Mystery films, I never tire of them. They always used real locations which always adds a touch of authenticity. It's high time, the Edgar Wallace Mysteries should be given a DVD box set release.

Last night I watched the 1969 UK film Connecting Rooms starring Bette Davis, Michael Redgrave, Alexis Kanner, Olga Georges-Picot, Kay Walsh, Leo Genn, Richard Wyler & Gabrielle Drake. A really enjoyable film. The scenes with Bette Davis & Michael Redgrave I found quite touching. Kay Walsh puts in a good performance as the nosy landlady. Good use of film locations and there's also music from the welsh band The Eyes of Blue as well as Lois Lane, whos sings Please Please Pierre, which Olga Georges Picot sings in the film. Incidentally, Lois Lane also sang in the 1969 film Crossplot starring Roger Moore, in that she appears singing Westminster Bridge.

Saw the film Wild Hogs last night. Very very funny. Didn't think it was my kind of film, but bits had to be rewound and seen again for laugh.
Four middle aged blokes try to escape reality for a few days by riding their motorbikes across America. I know John Travolta is in it but the others, Martin Lawrence, Tim Allen, William H Macy, the mother from Eveybody Hates Chris and John C McGinley make up for him. Ray Liota is in it too.

I watched 'Night of the Demon'. Even after seeing it so many times it still keeps it's power. A truly great film. Out of curiousity I also watched the remake of 'The Fog'. OK but not a patch on the excellent original, too much CGI and not enough atmosphere.

Last night I watched the 1964 UK film A Place To Go with Mike Sarne, Rita Tusingham, John Slater, Bernard Lee, Barbara Ferris, Doris Hare & Roy Kinnear. Enjoyed the film, making good use of the Bethnal Green locations.

Night of the Eagle (1962) R.2 DVD. Very effective horror with Peter Wyngarde the “king of camp” himself putting in an excellent performance here, reminding one what a very fine actor he is. Janet Blair is also excellent as his wife with a secret and Margaret Johnston also very good indeed. The film reminds me a little of Night of the Demon, but none the worse for that of course! 8/10

Have you seen the 1940s Lon Chaney Jr version 'Weird Woman'. Not as good but well worth a look .

Just watched this one myself a pity more time was not spent on the thread involving Redgrave and Davis which as you say was touching and beautifully played I thought. The same cannot be said of the one involving Kanner, a pretty awful actor and my eyes were constantly drawn to whatever it was he was balancing on his head The seedy atmosphere of the rented rooms was captured brilliantly with Kay Walsh especially good as the landlady from hell.

Last night a double bill of 1950's UK budget films. The first film was Face The Music (1954) with Alex Nicol, Eleanor Summerfield, John Salew, Paul Carpenter & Geoffrey Keen. The final film was The Traitor (1957) with Donald Wolfit, Jane Griffiths, Anton Diffring, Carl Jaffe, Rupert Davies, Karel Stepanek & Christopher Lee.

Cottage To Let ... I put a dvd on yesterday and started watching. The Boy Wonder was playing with his toys nearby. His interest was sparked by the young George Cole. He kept watching and gradually ended up sitting next to me. He watched nearly all the film. Not bad for a 4yr old! When George disappeared offscreen his interest began to lapse but it returned for the final shootout. It was definitely George Cole he found intriguing. Josh's first classic Britfilm .... and what a good one to start with.
