The return of U.N.I.T. was mentioned in a TV guide ages ago. IIRC it features more prominently later in the series. You'll have to let me know, 'cos I won't be watching.

They've already had a two-part UNIT story (which yes, everyone knew about in advance) but this one was supposedly set squillions of years in the future which is why the net is alive with the buzz of speculating fans

I see, I'll stick to B-movie thrillers featuring men in big coats in future.

A healthy dose of Terry Jones and his quite original presentation of Mediaeval life.
Last night the plight of the Peasant and that of the Monk were given a serious cross-examination.
His documentary on the Crusades has also been highly informative.

Last night I watched the following:-

The Malpas Mystery from 1960, an Edgar Wallace Mystery film, released by Anglo Amalagamated and starring Maureen Swanson, Ronald Howard, Geoffrey Keen, Sandra Dorne, Allan Cuthbertson, Alan Tilvern, Leslie French, Catherine Feller, Sheila Allen, Edward Cast and Richard Shaw. Another enjoyable Edgar Wallace Mystery film.

Following on was The Intimate Stranger from 1956, released by Anglo Amalgamated and starring Richard Bashart, Mary Murphy, Constance Cummings, Roger Livesey, Mervyn Johns, Basil Dignam, Faith Brook, David Lodge and Andre Mikhelson. Richard Basehart plays Reggie Wilson, a film director who who is slowly being driven out of his mind by a woman called Evelyn Stewart played by Mary Muprhy with whom he has supposedly had a llve affair with. A very good cast and some good performances from Richard Bashart and Constance Cummings.

Lastly was The Heart Within from 1957 starring David Hemmings, Clifford Evans, James Hayter, Earl Cameron, Jack Stewart, Dan Jackson, Betty Cooper, Frank Singuineau and Gloria Ann Simpson. Victor Conway played by Earl Cameron is suspected of murder and is currently on the run, Teenager Danny Willard played by David Hemmings helps Victor to find out who the real murderer is, and accidentally, stumbling across dope smugglers. Quite an entertaining film with much of the film being shot around the old London Docks.

GHOST RIDER - another Marvel comics adaptation - again, simply to see what they had done with something I knew in my youth. We ALMOST went to see this at the cinema, but then our aversion to Nicolas Cage overcame such silly thoughts...

What a shame! Watching it courtesy of SKY we realised just what a piece of fun we'd missed. OK, so we mostly enjoyed the Ghost Rider himself (i.e. when he was not of the Cage fizzog!) but the whole thing was very entertaining if - in places - a little predictable.

One for the HDTV...

Mmm, haven't seen this but I may give it a go. I am tempted by Iron Man.

I saw Iron Man the other day (purely as research because m'boy wants to see it ) and thought it was excellent. The best super-hero film since Superman 2.

Yes, very well done.

Marvel have announced that they will follow up with two more, I believe - all of which Robert Downey Jr. is signed up to...

Last night I watched Carry on At Your Convenience from 1971, starring Sid James, Kenneth Williams, Charles Hawtrey, Joan Sims, Hattie Jacques, Kenneth Cope, Richard O'Callaghan, Bernard Bresslaw, Patsy Rowlands, Davy Kaye, Jacki Piper, Bill Maynard, Renee Houston, Margaret Nolan and Marianne Stone. Yes it's the one where there working at WC Boggs' Lavatory factory. One of my favourite Carry on films, Kenneth Cope is very amusing as the Union Rep for the factory who's always calling all out strikes.

Following on was Strangler's Web from 1965 an Edgar Wallace Mystery film released by Anglo Amalgamated starring Griffith Jones, John Stratton, Pauline Munro, Gerald Harper, Michael Balfour, Pauline Boty, Patricia Burke, Marianne Stone and Maurice Hedley. John Stratton plays Lewis Preston, a Private Investigator with a heavy drink problem who helps solve the murder of an ex theatre/music hall actress.

STRANGLER'S WEB is dear to my heart as it was the first Edgar Wallace Mystery that I ever saw - with those great titles, the music and Michael Balfour. I remember it as if it were only yesterday...
