It most certainly is, one of Jenny Agutter's least seen films on TV. I enjoyed her performance very much as with the rest of the cast.

Last night a slight deviation from the norm in that I watched 2 European films starting off with
The Death Ray Mirror of Dr Mabuse from 1964 starring Peter van Eyck, Yvonne Furneaux, OE Hasse, Leo Genn, Walter Rilla, Robert Beatty, Gustavo Rojo, Rika Dialina, Wolfgang Preiss, Charles Fawcett, Claudio Gora and Ernst Schroder.

The evil Dr Mabuse develops a death ray with which he threatens the world. Peter van Eyck plays Major Bob Anders an Intelligence Agent sent to Malta to stop the evil Dr Mabuse.

An enjoyable film with Peter van Eyck playing a most likeable character, it also stars gorgeous beauty Yvonne Furneaux. Some interesting underwater filming sequences and catchy music score.

Following on was a German Edgar Wallace film from 1968 called The Horror of Blackwood Castle starring Heinz Drache, Karin Baal, Siegfried Schürenberg, Mady Ruhl, Ilse Page, Horst Tappert, Agnes Windeck, Otto Stern, Alexander Engel, Arthur Binder, Hans Soknher, Tilo van Berlepsch, Harry Wustenhagen, Rainer Brandt and Uta Levka.

Some strange things going on at Blackwood Castle with various people murdered by a vicious hound at Blackwood Castle. I have to say that I have enjoyed watching some of these German Edgar Wallace films in the past. Love the Constantin film intro. The music is very groovy too.

One saying I heard recently - describing same sex relationships - said person, "travels on the other bus..."

I think Annie got herself a Network Card!

Last night I watched a double bill of films from 1957 starting off was No Time For Tears starring Anna Neagle, Sylvia Syms, Anthony Qualye, George Baker, Flora Robson, Joan Hickson, Alan White, Daphne Anderson, Sophie Sterwart, Angela Baddeley, Rosalie Crutchley, Cyril Chamberlain, Joan Sims, Richard O'Sullivan, Michael Hordern, Victor Brooks and Adrienne Posta. The film is set in a Children's Hospital focusing on the lives of the patients, doctors, nurses etc. Some touching moments.

Lastly was The Flesh Is Weak starring John Derek, Milly Vitale, Freda Jackson, William Franklyn, Martin Benson, Patricia Jessel, Norman Wooland, Patricia Plunkett, Vera Day, Harold Lang, Shirley Anne Field, John Paul, Denis Shaw, Charles Lloyd Pack and Paul Stassino. A Raymond Stross production directed by Don Chaffey. An interesting story of prostitution in London and the pimps behind the racket. Some good performances.

My viewing last night was a 1962 film, the War Lover starring Steve McQueen. Although I'd read the book many years ago I had never seen this film. I was impressed. Beautifully understated, very human with imaginative and subtle camera shots - you have a tail gunner's eye view as his aircraft taxies out for take off for instance. The final scenes where a lone McQueen is struggling to keep his stricken aircraft above the waves of the Channel are very good and I found myself willing him to get enough height to clear the approaching cliff tops. Some years ago I read that the three B17 aircraft used were scrapped after filming had been completed; seems unbelievable now but such things had less value in the 60's. For those of you who enjoy war films and haven't watched this one I highly recommend it.

I have not seen Johnny Angel but Cornered is a cracking little thriller. IMHO one of Powell's better efforts.

I wish I had claws.

Is Johnny Angel the film with the wonderful quote: Gangster gives some money to fence, "On account". Fence: "On account of how much?" Gangster: "On account of that's all you're goin' to get!" I know it was a George Raft film but can't remember which one. Can you help?

"I've come a long way you know!" "Equally long way to go back..."

Watched "The List of Adrian Messenger "- great fun no matter how many times you've seen it.
