Udo Keir as the author is monumentally wooden and Fiona Richmond just awful(wooden would be a compliment)
The much vaunted porn/ violence is badly edited and badly done and altogether makes a film not worthy of its notoriety.

If the censor would have said bloody awful rather than bloody and violent I could have agreed with him.

The version I had recorded had a 12 certificate and was shown at 9am on tv,
how times have changed.....................................
The BBFC cuts made to that film (approx 3 mins or so ) are as follows.....

Two country boys (one of whom is Karl Howman from Brush Strokes and the Flash adverts) threaten Linda Hayden with a shotgun and forces her to have sex with Karl, whilst the woman rubs her hand up and down the shotgun in a very suggestive manner. The fact that she manages to shoot them both didn't appease the BBFC who cut almost the entire scene. Also a scene showing Fiona Richmond getting murdered in the shower has been reduced to eliminate the actual stabbing and blood on the breasts also a shot of Fiona Richmond's legs streaming with blood was removed.

The edited version is available on Oddysey DVD and only the edited version is available on DVD,however the full uncut version was once released on Intervision Video back in the 1980's.

Public Eye - two episodes fro mthe new 1972/73 set. The first featured the great Jean Kent as Mrs Podmore, a 'lady' who wants Marker to look after her cat. The second was a superb two hander between Alfed Burke and Paul Rodgers. As always great acting and wonderful make this series hugely enjoyable. TV at it's best.

The version I have the shotgun scene remains yet the Fiona Richmond scene is just blood running down the bath, though my version has French subtitles and probably edited by and for French TV

As I have said above before plus , the full uncut version was once released on Intervision Video back in the 1980's and this is the only way to see it UNCUT,whenever it is shown on tv or satelite/cable under House on Straw Hill or as Expose....it is basically the same as the edited Odyssey DVD release.

Is the Odyssey version still available .... the only dvd I can trace is the Bach edition. This is also the cut version.

There are some dvd's available on ebay .... one claims to be an 'official' uncut version. If the vhs to dvd transfers on there have used the Intervision vhs they may uncut too.

Room 43/Passport to Shame a rather racy prostitution story that features Diana Dors, Herbert Lom and a 'blink and you'll miss him' appearance by Michael Caine. Nice location photography and good performances save this from being too melodramatic and it is a good way to spend 90m. Great score too.

Magicians (2007) - retitled Magic Men over here - starring David Mitchell, Robert Webb and a great selection of Brit comedy actors.
I enjoyed the film very much and found it really funny. Quite a few laugh out loud moments.
I haven't always liked Mitchell & Webb's TV work but this film was a pleasant surprise.
I plan to watch it again.

Dave.
