Is that on the Imperial War Museum DVD with the extra short A Seaman's Story?
It is a great film. Jack Cardiff was stuck in that boat for ages.

Yes indeed, the Seaman's Story was the stuff of legend too! I did not have time to listen to more than a short part of Pat Jackson's interesting commentary looking forward to hearing the rest later. A terrific DVD

Always well worth watching. Even more so when Sheila Sim, John Sweet & some of the boys from the river battle (now 70+ year old men) are in the audience.

There's an annual location walk we do every August bank holiday Sunday. As well as a good way to meet other admirers of the film it's an excuse for a nice walk in the Kent countryside on what is usually a nice summer's day. It'll be announced on the PaPAS web site nearer the date.

The First two eps of Secial branch,
1 A copper called craven, how gritty was this, with the appearence of a youthfull tony selby, and evil
nasty peter jeffrey as the a10 officer, and george sewell, you just wouldn't mess.

2 Round the clock, the introduction of pat mower,a rather abrasive relationship developing between craven and heggarty, and a slight nod to hitchcocks rear window maybe?

moew you were right so far excellent stuff, hope the rest stands up.

cheers Ollie.

Nice one!!!
What amazed me about A copper called craven, was the very early use of the word 'shit'

I highly recommend the two bonus VT eps. with Derren Nesbitt. **SUPERB**

SB is fab because you can do loads of Colet Court and location spotting, fill in the blanks from The Sweeney.

Watched some old episodes of The Sweeney. When I first saw the series on television I was taken by how realistic and hard-hitting it was. Looking back now, they are a little dated but the stories and action stand up to present day viewing.
Love John Thaw's toughness.
"Who are you then?"
"We're the Sweeney son."

Do the British rozzers still have a Flying Squad? I remember reading how the involvement of the real Sweeney used to strike fear in the hearts of hardened crims.

Dave.

Reign of Fire for the first time...enjoyable nonsense, well handled for the most part....Survivors meets Mad Max meets Quatermass and the Pit...Impressed by Christian Bale, who acted like it was happening, came across as a sincere actor. I knew he was an up-and-coming name, what with the last Batman (not seen) but I hadn't seen him before - I thought - until I checked out imdb. I had no idea; he was the superb child actor that carried Empire of the Sun for Spielberg nearly 20 years ago....could be the first child actor to really make it as an adult star since Judy Garland.

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

THE BRIGHTON STRANGLER - Not Brit, I know, but starring British actor John Loder. Found whilst browsing the Radio Times, which recommended it as quite an effective little thriller. For once, they were right...

Then onto GIDEON'S DAY, as Mrs Smudge wanted to see what Mr. Loder was doing in this one. Not a bad evening's viewing altogether.
