Unearhtly Stranger
A marvellous little sci-fi film of alien bodysnatchers that manages to create an atmosphere of suspense despite the aliens only appearing briefly near the end in the shape of Jean Marsh.

Nice to see I'm not the only one who thinks this is a little cracker !

My Learned Friend (1943) What an absolute delight this film is, sadly Will Hay's last but definitely one of his best and Claude Hulbert is terrific too with always reliable Mervyn Johns in top form also. That scene with CH barking under the table

I recently got the dvd version with all the bonus features. The Barry Humphries interview was very good, and who'd have thought he was Davy Jones (Monkees) chaperone in the 60's!!

Oh yes I also enjoyed BH's bonus contribution included on that DVD, he is always good value Rather interesting why he thought he got the role of "Envy" too

Yet another Edgar Wallace Mystery, Face of a Stranger. Rather well acted with Jeremy Kemp marvellously brooding (has he got a painting of himself in the attic I wonder as he always looks the same age) with Rosemary Leach and Bernard Archard not a policeman for once.

Continuing with 'GIDEON'S WAY'
I'm really enjoying this. I've never been an ITC filmed series fan, always found them rather 'twee'.
But this is excellent.
Tonight, some fabulous location shooting in and around Battersea.

I’ve only seen the first two and so far they are frankly better than I was expecting, though I have always been a fan of John Gregson. Watched the one with Roland Culver as a right wing crackpot a few nights ago.

Agreed (God, I seem to be agreeing with everyone at the moment!)
I didn't hold out much hope, I only really bought it for two reasons:-
A/ Because it was cheap
B/ Because it's filmed in and around London, so I could do some location spotting.

I've finished disc1 now, and IMO the highlight was ep1; seeing Hurt and Nesbitt on screen together was truly awesome.

That's the one. Where the cameras hardly ever left the detective's room (although the detectives sometimes did).

Wait till you get to the Donald Sutherland one....it's like he's parachuted in from a different decade...

That's it Steve. You had the precinct set and the Miller's apartment set. It sort of fell between that MARY TYLER MOORE period of US comedy, and the wacky (yet again limited sets) WKRP era.

X The Unknown (1956) Effectively handled "Hammer" sci-fi with surprisingly good effects, performances and story which easily held my attention. Then again I’m quite easily pleased
