X The Unknown (1956) Effectively handled "Hammer" sci-fi with surprisingly good effects, performances and story which easily held my attention. Then again I’m quite easily pleased

It's a belter!

Latest viewing a couple of episodes from BBC TV’s Out of the Unknown George Cole in The Last Lonely Man (1969) and Milo O’Shea in Come Buttercup, Come Daisy.. (1965) Both interesting pieces of TV sci-fi/drama from the days when our screens were not filled with Soaps, reality shows and assorted pap Thanks heavens for DVD

Life For Ruth (1962). A young girl dies because her father (Michael Craig) refuses to allow a blood transfusion on religious grounds. The doctor (Patrick McGoohan), prevented from treating the girl, charges the father with manslaughter.

A thoughtful treatment of a difficult subject. Pleasantly surprised that the film treated all points of view in a fair and balanced manner.

Robert

Yet more 'GIDEON'S WAY' I'm hooked.
It just gets better and better...........
'State Visit' with Alfie Bass
'Firebug' with George Cole (worth watching just to see him back-projected on a moped!)
and the highlight so far 'The Lady Killer' with Ray Barrett, Justine Lord and Rosemary Leach.
This ep. felt like an Edgar Wallace film, Barrett as the conniving con-man, Leach as his latest victim, and Lord brightening up the scenery as Alexander Davion's (DCI Keen) latest bird.
He's a bit of a ladies-man, previously Sue Lloyd was running him around in an E-type Jag! (lucky for some!)
I'm off for a cold shower...............

On the strength of that recommendation, I just ordered it! Anything like Edgar Wallace has to be worth watching. Thanks.

Personally I preferred the E-type, never did fancy Sue Lloyd. Am I still the only one to have got to the Donald Sutherland episode??

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

The Yellow Balloon.

Post-war thriller set in London, a young boy comes under the influence of a petty crook and inadvertantly becomes involved in a robbery and subsquent murder. Some authentic locations, particularly the disused Tube station in the climax.

Hatter's Castle (courtesy of Smudge)

Melodrama charting the tragedy surrounding a Scottish hat seller, the wild-eyed Robert Newton, and a conscientious doctor (James Mason) in love with his daughter. Hobson's Choice with prostitutes and unwanted pregnancies.

You think they're bad: you should watch The Committee (1966, starring Paul Jones)!!
