So you don't fancy joining me and my partner on the West Highland Way this summer?

It's a nice stroll from Glasgow to Fort William..

Shooting Dogs

BBC film along similar lines to Hotel Rwanda charting the harrowing genocide as seen by a Catholic priest (John Hurt), English teacher and powerless French UN peacekeepers. Powerful and uncompromising, the film closes with a UN politician refusing to be drawn on the use of the word genocide despite 800,000 laying dead - distressing subject matter which may prevent it ever getting a wide general release. (pencilled in for March)

The Titfield Thunderbolt (again!) with wonderful old steam engines and lovely scenery, all in glorious Technicolor.

The new DVD (Region 1) of Beyond The Fringe - I nearly choked when during the Aftermyth of War sketch (the one with "Perkins, we need a futile gesture just now") Dudley puts on his Dame Myra Hess wig and takes off Listen To Britain - followed by Bennett and Miller quoting 'A Diary for Timothy'...
How available were Humphrey Jennings titles in 1962???

Bit of a Bay Window, what??

'The Counterfeit Plan'
I've been after this for ages.
What a little gem it is too, rather like 'Jigsaw' in style in as much as it has a rather documentary feel.
Mervyn Johns does rather overplay the dithering forger.

Watched Never Take Sweets From a Stranger, a rather bad taste film about two little girls and an old paedophile (Felix Aylmer) It would never get made now. Felix Aylmer didn't actually have any lines, he was just required to hang about looking scary, proffering a paper bag of sweets. Nice to see Gwen Watford in a lead role in a film, instead of just being Joan Hickson's sidekick!!!!
