Night of the big heat [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/clapping.gif[/img] [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/clapping.gif[/img] dont care if patrick allen is oak,great voice,and with lines like "you know you want me" and aliens like transparent dustbin lids,none of these things detered me from enjoying this immensly.

Circus of Fear (1966) Just viewed the DVD and I must be missing something here because I found this one to be a rather tedious load of old tosh [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumbdown.gif[/img] Maybe the Circus connection didn't help, I have always found them along with “Funfairs” to be creepy and unpleasant, even before political correctness reared it’s ugly head. Oh well each to his own and all that and onto the next film [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif[/img]

Well all those motorbike spills from my youth caught up with me in my late thirties, and I used to have loads of aches and pains in knees, hips and back, especially during the winter months. Now it's not so bad because of an accidental miracle cure. Plenty of swimming helps, about five miles a week, and each morning I start the day with a cocktail of apple vinegar, lashings of cod liver oil, topped up with grapefruit juice and I just sling it down my neck! It tastes as disgusting as it sounds but after several months I no longer have the aches and pains many forty somethings have! My breath now smells like a bear emerging from a long winter's hibernation from a cave full of rotting fish, apples and grapefruit but everything else is fine!

Watched the DVD of "Hell is a City". There is an alternative ending in the Extras. Can't really see why they filmed two endings. The one in the film itself ends with Stanley Baker roaming the dark streets of Manchester feeling sorry for himself because his wife, Maxine Audley, doesn't want children. The alternative ending sees him going back home and virtually jumping on her in bed. We must assume from this that children are no longer unwanted and the reason they hadn't had them before was because until he had a wander round the streets and thought about it, he didn't know what you had to do to get them!!!! Sub-Python vehicle with Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Peter Cook, Spike Milligan, James Mason, Marty Feldman all playing it up in the swashbuckling pirate adventure. Sadly, they forgot to write any jokes into the script.

Inspector Hornleigh On Holiday (1939) Last night's viewing and an absolute delight. Excellent mixture of comedy and mystery well played by all concerned especially Gordon Harker and Alastair Sim, with a young Edward “Mr Grimsdale” Chapman for good measure.

Fortune is a Woman (courtesy of Mr Smudge)

A noirish whodunit that subverts Jack Hawkins archetypal upstanding Englishman by marrying him to Arlene Dahl - who just may be a fraudster and murderess. Gilliat and Launder hated the title, the US one more so, and belatedly wished it had been titled Red Sky at Night. Like Dead of Night it opens with the central characters foreboding nightmare sequence.

KISS ME, STUPID - Billy Wilder's 1964 sex comedy with Dean Martin, Ray Walston, Kim Novak and the lovely Felicia Farr (Mrs. Jack Lemmon.) Far funnier and far better than I expected.

BIRTHS, MARRIAGES AND DEATHS - Strong TV Drama with an excellent cast and gripping storyline ; only let down slightly by Ray Winstone's one-note playing.

THE CURSE OR FRANKENSTEIN - Hammer's seminal Gothic. After repeated viewings over the years the sheer impact of what Christopher Lee did with the monster in what really was just meant to be a 'blood chiller' is quite awsome. An amazing performance !
