It's only a few of us here who really can't stand the paper, as it often crosses the line between comment and news, and (IMHO) often lapses into outright racism. I don't buy it under any circumstances, but if other's want to, then that's fine, so long as they know what they are giving their money to.

A balanced newspaper probably isn't a desirable thing, as journalism is supposed to be about reporting the truth, but there is really no equivalence between the propagandist writing in the Mail (and the Express) and the journalism in The Guardian and The Independent, and even in more right wing papers like The Daily Telegraph and The Times.

A dislike of the Daily Mail should be beyond left and right wing politics and focus instead on good old fashioned journalistic ethics.

Now then, apology accepted, and let's talk about films and telly. Wasn't Foyle's War dull last night...

As usual it's very hard to work out what you're actually saying

You say "the threads on here are non stop condemn the mail"
But then in the same sentence (if your strange punctuation can be regarded as sentences) you say "it really is odd rubbishing something and then reccomending it"

Who has ever recommended it?

If more of us bought "The Daily Mail" and then threw it straight in the bin then that is at least one more copy taken out of circulation that will not be read!.....well thats what I tell myself anyway as I rip the paper to shreds in a frenzy to get my free DVD...

But they would still have sold a copy and that would add to their circulation figures and so make them think that a lot of people are interested in their views. So they'll keep on as they are.

They don't really care if you read it or not, they only care how many copies they sell

There is no such thing as bad publicity the saying goes so the Mail group must be happy. I must say, the paper does dwell on the darker side of news - some headlines I recall are '3 million body bags are stocked in case of Bird Flu epidemic'!
'MRSA is out of control'
'one million lost immigrants are in the system'! 'one third of England may disappear when the sea rises' etc etc (Always Look on the Bright Side of Life)

I did run the DVD A Matter of Life and Death but it was a duff copy! I will buy the set though.

yeah I know, but I did get some kind of consolation throwing the paper in a bin 4 yards from the newsagents door, i just had to have that copy of AMOLAD you see as shockingly I don't have that in my DVD collection....I will hang my head in shame for the next few weeks .......

I LOVE the Daily Mail

Admittedly I only buy it when they offer a free DVD, but the paper does come in very useful for things like potatie peelings etc for carrying to the compost bin.

Long may they continue to expand my DVD collection.

Last month I collected 12 Catherine Cookson DVD's, a welcome addition to my DVD coolection and all for a total cost of less that a fiver. That can't be bad.

So come on , stop knocking 'em

And of course they can prove to advertisers how many readers their message will reach. Hopefully, the admen are clued up enough to know that those figures are only on a Saturday!
