How did you manage that ?

At my TESCO they give you the DVD when you present the paper for purchase the discs are kept under the counter.

As it only costs 45p for the paper quite a good deal for a DVD, I think you are a cheapskate.

Is there a "No purchase necessary" clause?

Default Dail Mail War Movies Sequence ?

Has any one worked out which film is being issued which day?

I only want about half of them, and as I live about 10 miles from the nearest WHS or Tesco, it would be useful to be able to plan to swim or shop or whatever on a "good film day".

If tomorrow's (Thursday) is Above us the Waves, then the sequence may be the order in which the fims are listed in the paper (looking at Tuesday's Mail)

Aces High is a superb film by the way with an amazing cast of distinguished Brit actors. Great performances from Malcolm McDowell, Christopher Plummer,Peter Firth and some marvelous flying sequences, all done for real of course, no CGI in those days. Highly recommended and as I already have it in my DVD collection I will spare myself the 45p for the freebie!

As I say if you look at the thread then it becomes apparant that I am not a cheapskate. I have bought the dreadful papers mentioned to get free dvds and although this will shock many of the members on here I do have the Daily Mail delivered. I cut out the coupon and go to Tesco's and pick up my dvd without buying an extra copy.

Of course you are not a cheapskate and I think there is nothing shocking or wrong with buying a newspaper for the purpose of collecting some very desirable Brit movies. Back to "Aces High", its one of my favourite WW1 flying movies and there seemed to be a run of this type of film in the 60s early 70s with "The Blue Max", and John Philip Law as "The Red Baron" I think "Aces High" is the best of the bunch though.

I assumed that the order that they are shown in the Mail is the order in which they will be given away.

If you collect the tokens (8 different ones I think) and send them off with P&P they will send you the whole collection of DVDs. Means buying a few newspapers though....eeeeeek.

Yes, I had already got the other DVD's given away, so I thought for the sake of £1.99 I would get it from Ebay. Her ladyship, the wife, can pay up the £1.99!

I just go to my local W.H.Smiths and ask for the DVD as they seem to run out of Mails when I'm shopping. They usually have a box load after 3 o'clock

A colleague on my previous temping assignment was a regular Mule-reader, and had the most negative world-view I have ever encountered in someone who wasn't a diagnosed depressive. "I'm getting too old for this world," she'd say, after rambling on about some extremely rare but luridly reported crime or scandal. (She's only in her 50s: and my 73-year-old father doesn't think that way!) It seems to feed on and exacerbate people's fears and hatreds. (The Daily Hate would be a good name for it.) As the only temp, I had to bite my tongue over much that was said, but I found it chilling to be among women in my own age-range (40-50) who still referred to "darkies", "Chinkies" and "poofters", and complained about "foreigners". Their reading material reflected and encouraged their world-view.
