Default Bryan Forbes at Elstree

Just back from Elstree Studios and the Bryan Forbes plaque unveiling. Marvellous to see Lord and Lady Attenborough there along with many celebrities. Forbesy & Bunter were a wonderful double-act in the unveiling and the following Q&A, and Nanette Newman is just such a lovely lady...

PLUS we finally got to meet Aitch in the flesh. Brilliant to meet you mate - top man !

What a great weekend Mrs. Smudge and I have had.

Event photos to follow.

Thank you Smudge, the pleasure was all mine...Lovely day...

Had a great day out at Elstree Studios yesterday (13th) and got to sit and talk with Sir Richard Attenborough, Brian Forbes CBE. and my old boss Darth Vader (Dave Prowse) from Star Wars.
Met up with Mr and Mrs Smudge from Brit Movie forum (Nice couple).Paul Burton and Paul Welsh were good to chat to and of course my good friend Bob Redman and his lovely wife.
Thanks to all the other folk for making it a day to remember.

Edit...When I spoke to Sir Richard I wasn't sure what to call him..Sir Richard or Lord Attenborough..
Now this is true !!!!!

He said call me baldy....

I liked Forbes tale of when he and Nannette Newman were staying at the Ritz and when he went back to the hotel the receptionist told him that he could not take Nannette upstairs, thinking that she was a lady of the street.

A Lord outranks a Sir so his Lordshipness has replaced his knighthood

Officially you should call him "Lord Attenborough" rather than "Sir Richard" although confusingly you can still address a Lord as "Sir" as you might to anyone else, regardless of any title or rank they might hold, where you wanted to show some respect like in "Hello sir" or "Excuse me sir".

But he's such a nice bloke I don't think he minds too much what you call him - as long as you don't call him late for dinner

I don't remember what I called him when I've chatted with him.

Thanks Freddy -

I was hoping to get a question in at the Q&A, but didn't manage to get selected. I did, however, get my question answered by Nanette as we had a little chat just before she sat down for afternon tea - it was just a little question about THE RAGING MOON and the ending of the film. Nanette was kind enough to sign my MOON DVD sleeve and then I (a little cheekily) asked if she'd mind getting her hubby to sign it too, as Bryan had already sat down by then - albeit signing other stuff, rather than eating. Nanette was very obliging and asked Bryan if he'd also the sleeve. She wished us a safe journey back home at the end of our little chat; a lovely couple.

I was last man to catch Lord Attenborough before he too sat down to tea, so we didn't speak, but he did sign my ticket. Lady A was already seated and enjoying her sandwiches, so I wasn't about to disturb her.

Later on I (finally) spotted Aitch striding towards me. I greeted him and we had a nice little natter. He told me the reception room used to be his canteen, where you used to get your breakfast for 50p (bet you meant real money Aitch and actually meant 10 bob! ). Aitch then kindly took me across and introduced me to Paul Burton and we had our little photoshoot.

The sort of afternoon none of us will forget in a hurry...

I loved the two old rebels camping it up, pretending to be a pair of raving old queens too scared to come out of the closet!

Like Bryan said, they could have made a fortune out of HELLO magazine...
