Default Where are they now, 007?

With another part of this hobby being nipping out to film fairs (etc.) I thought I'd start this thread to put up some photos from when I've been out and about, in the hope that others may follow suit.

Just back from the first full day of Autographica near the NEC and here are a few pics...

Firstly the lovely Luciana Paluzzi, alias Fiona Volpe from THUNDERBALL - looking wonderful...

Next, and also from THUNDERBALL, the super cool Paul Stassino - contrary to previous rumours happily still with us...

Now, hitting the fan circuit after a peaceful and creative semi-retirement in Spain, the original Golden Girl from the GOLDFINGER titles - Margaret Nolan...

And finally for the 007 section an absolutely stunning Bettine Le Beau from DR. NO. As we were chatting I found it difficult to believe that this lovely lady is into her mid-seventies. She remains utterly enchanting...

And two from the TV section.

First up, Avon Calling! Yes, it's Paul Darrow...

And - still looking scrummy - Lucy Fleming (who could have gone in the 007 section, surely) of SURVIVORS fame...

That's all for now - I'm going back tomorrow to see the 'Sunday only' guests, so there may be more soon.

Good news about Paul Stassino .... I'd heard he had left us.

Paul's still cool - I was the first person to see him today as he was 'last man in' for getting to the hall this morning. He'd been in the hotel's swimming pool. He said although he was enjoying himself he couldn't wait to get back to his 'beautiful ocean'.

Can't say I blame him - I'd think I'd prefer Cyprus to a windy and overcast Birmingham any day...

Lovely to see Paul Darrow. I remember watching his 'Blake's-7" character. That guy, Avon, was so cool!.........

The fact that the character was so intriguing that he transcended your awareness of the same name being used on particularly cheesy adverts for ladies cosmetics around the same time, just makes it all the more impressive in retrospect !!

It's always fun when I see him pop up occasionally on telly nowadays. I keep hearing his voice as a narrator or on adverts too, don't I?

Yes, I did, but it was a bit of a production line thing. No photography - you have to pay for a formal photo shoot. We just spoke briefly and he signed a couple of pics. Like my friend said later - this is it, it's just how it is but you know you'll never get this chance again.

My friend's interviewing him tonight for an official DVD of the show - hence their no photo/video rule. He wasn't wearing one of his - now legendary - wigs, but a smart blue cap. At the moment he's in a wheelchair. At the gala dinner last night he met up with an attendee, similarly wheelchair bound. Tony's reaction ? He leans across and says, "You wanna race...?"

Aye I saw him on telly earlier in the week showing of his artwork. I think he's been ill recently hence the wheelchair.

He looked better today. He gave me a cheery 'Hello' as he was wheeled past, and a wave...

So onto day two...

It was a TV day today in the main. The day started disappointingly as Lalla Ward had decided that she couldn't make it and (allegedly) rang to say so just after 8am...

Small things make the day, and it was nice to have that wave and smile from Tony C as he wheeled by. Also, whilst I was hanging around waiting for some late arrivals (thanks to rail delays) I was spotted by Paul Darrow and he called out, "Smudge! Hello!" and gave me a broad smile...

First up in the pics is Barry Stanton who was (co-incidentally) in the Hammer film DEMONS OF THE MIND, which Mrs. S and myself have been struggling to get through for the past two nights. We had a little chat and Barry told me a couple of small stories about the film...

Then (finally) Hugh Walters (Charlie Hawtrey in ITV's CARRY ON Docu-drama COR BLIMEY!) arrived after said train delays. Apologies for the blurry image...

And finally for the day, Mr. Rumbold himself - fresh from the Costa Plonka (or whatever it was in the AYBS film!) Nicholas Smith...

And - like they say at Warner Bros. - that's all folks...

Cheers Stevie -

I'll try to keep this thread updated as and when I go 'eventing' in future - I have a fair few 'back-catalogue' where-are-they-now? pics from other events as well, but they'll have to be re-sized and loaded into Photobucket, so they would be as and when time allows...
