Revolution with Al Pacino,so much talent in front and behind the camera yet sadly wasted.

Sunk Goldcrest didn't it ?

There's a lot of dignity in that, isn't there? Going out like a raspberry ripple.

Absolute Beginners - sunk like the author of the original - Colin MacInnes (pity because the book is fine). Patsy survived it but Eddie (now rebranded Edward) didn't.

Thats the joke that killed the Music Hall !

Default No Blade Of Grass

Cornel Wilde produced, directed and starred in The Naked Prey, after which the world was his prawn cocktail.

Then he directed No Blade Of Grass, which was such a turkey that the tickets should have been accompanied by packets of Paxo.

Two notable British artists for some inexplicable reason conspired to make one of the worst films ever. Director John Boorman and Richard Burton, "The Excorcist 2" Truly awful stuff, the fact that it is not really a Brit film gets it of the hook on this thread I suppose, I only mention it as being possibly the lowest point of both those British luminaries careers.

Both needed a hit and Burton, who was nearly uninsurable, needed to prove to producers that he could work without drinking so he could repeat his stage success in Equus on film. Boorman was ill during filming.

A response to some of the films mentioned ....

The Avengers - utter tripe, dreadful acting, terrible script, appallingly inept direction. A true stinker. Unfortunately it also took the dire remake of Les Diaboliques to finish the career of Jeremiah Chechik.

No Blade of Grass - a much under-rated thriller. Good script and performances and nice atmosphere of impending doom.

Revolution - A fine spectacle let down by an unfocussed script and a duff performance from Donald Sutherland. Pacino is superb.

casino Royale (1967) I've alweays viewed as a complete mess of a film. Ok it made money and had a few amusing scenes but it is a total shambles.

Educating Rita.

I never felt it made the transfer to the screen although I wasn't disappointed with the cast. Thought they were well chosen and gave fine performances.

I just felt that the electricity of the theatrical production was diluted when taken out of the confines of Frank's study and characters other than Frank and Rita where introduced. The beauty of the play was that Willy Russell painted such vivid portraits of Rita's "outside life", you didn't actually need to see it.

There's also a Shane Ritchie film (the name escapes me) that flopped spectacularly; making about £4.50 at the box-office. Again I've never viewed to see if the infamy was deserved.

Five writers, several directors and rewrites during filming. Woody Allen has said that it was an example of how not too make a film. Total shambles indeed. The only good thing about it is the music by Burt Bacharach. When Daniel Craig appeared on the Johnny Carson show to promote "casino royale" the studio orchestra played the Bacarach theme from the 67 film. As Craig walked on he looked quizzically towards the orchestra, it probably took a lot of self control not to shake his head in distain! Totally wrong to play the theme from a rubbish rogue Bond film that was in direct competition to the official franchise, the researcher for that talk show show must be a complete fool if you ask me!

'To Paris with Love', directed by Robert Hamer and starring Alec Guinness, but it's unwatchably dull.
