Oh - I must admit that Where Eagles Dare is a favorite of mine...maybe not the greatest film, or even a good film...but still a favorite.

The film of Half A Sixpence was very poor, which surprised me. I remember hearing the music on an album and it was quite good.

I've never thought of Where Eagles Dare as a guilty pleasure just a very rousing boys own wartime adventure, gotta love the double act of Burton and Eastwood plus the brilliant pairing of Mary Ure and Ingrid Pit---- very rousing.

It's a terrific action film - I put it next to The Great Escape.

You're right there, it wasn't nearly as good as it should have been!

I think the director was trying for something different and exciting, with cross cutting and unusual camera angles.

The material is just fine on its own, without the fancy camera work. Tommy Steele was well cast in the role. I had never seen him before that.

It was better on stage
But the film is a nice reminder of a great stage show

Bats - yeh ok you're right!
I'm biased 'cos I was in it - but it was Goodnight Vienna for me (cutting-room floor job!)
Mind you, I'm sure if they had kept me in, it would have been a much better film!
