did anyone think 'made in england' was any good? i was tempted into buying it by the broad sheet reviews and film festival prizes, but quarter of an hour in, i was amazed that actually not one actor could act!

Steve - is this fact , or just mythology? No disrespect intended, but as a born and bred Londoner I know that there is a lot of tosh out there concerning the 'wonderful' East End and the people who lived there. In a strange way it was always the same with the rose-tinted aura surrounding West Ham United and their loyal(?) fans.

It's true that the Krays would always be interested in any petty criminals working on their patch and that they'd either beat them up and scare them off - or they'd let them carry on working but would take a share of their earnings.

Nothing particularly wonderful about it. There was a lot of poverty and there was also a lot of crime.

But they were good to their mother

Do you mean 'This Is England' the Shane Meadows film? If you do, there are other threads on here for both the film and the director.
