I was watching Deadwood on DVD the other night and a memory flashed into my head of a film starring a young Ian McShane called Tam Lin 9( AKA The Devils Widow ) which I remember seeing on video back in the early days when video stores were stocked with whatever they could get. It was directed by Roddy MacDowell and was an updated retelling of the old Scots ballad of the same name. It starred Ava Gardner as a wealthy widow with Satanic leanings and a group of trendy young acolytes who are in her thrall. There's a fantastic supporting cast ( I've just jogged my memory via IMDB ) of British talent including McShane, Richard Wattis, Joanna Lumley, Fabia Drake, Cyril Cusack, Stephanie Beacham and Jenny Hanley. It was an unusual subject and I remember enjoying it first time around. I'd quite like to see it again. Has anyone else seen it or know anything about its availability or otherwise?
