Yes, a key Hemmings film. One of my favourites. He was so cool back in the early 70's.

Default Pasadena

David was also a songwriter and for years I have been trying to track down his song PASADENA by Buster from 1970. Excellent song and he is obviously one of those people who could turn his hand to anything.

Hemmings like Nicholson like Richard Bradford. All cool in their prime and they did not mind aging and getting fat which makes them even more cooler 2 females who come to mind are Diana Dors and Sylvia Syms, both lookers who did not try and hold on to their looks.

Yes DH is one of my favourite actors too. If people liked his performance in Unman Wittering and Zigo they should also checkout Fragment of Fear ( from the same era ).

Indeed, Fragment of Fear is a great film. I tend to think it as the second in a loose trilogy that begins with Blow Up and ends with Deep Red. One of Hemmings best films, love it.

For DH fans it would be worth checking out his tongue in cheek autobiography :

Blow Up & Other Exaggerations

My favourite Hemmings performance is in the 1979 TV movie Charlie Muffin. It was adapted from a long running series of spy novels, and if I ever go back to one of the books, I can only imaine Hemmings in the role, so perfect was his casting.

Agreed. Splendid stuff, and for me the last truly essential Hemmings performance. It is a pity he did not return in more Charlie Muffin stories, would have been quite something. From here on in it was mainly The A Team, Airwolf and lots of disappointments. Still love the guy though, a real cool character.

Always thought it a great shame he didn't have more screen time in "Last Orders".

I quite enjoyed his performance in Waking the Dead .... he displayed the difference between good TV actors and 'movie stars'. Charisma, presence whatever you want to call it, the boy Hemmings had it in spades!

Jingle bells Batman smells ... I heard that at school Daddy.

Goodness, I have many a copy of Pasadena on various pieces of vinyl!

Hemmings wrote the song with Harry Vanda and George Young who were HUGELY successful songwriters in the 60's and 70's (Easybeats, Flash and the Pan, etc).

Pasadena was recorded by John Paul Young (who did nicely out of the talents of Vanda and Young until all could retire off the royalties of "Love is in the Air").

It should be easy enough to track down on a Best of JPY CD.
