It's funny you say that as I was sure I remembered that too, but the last time it was on TV (perhaps over the Easter weekend) there was no sign of that ending, it was all over after the scene we dare not mention.

Perhaps the emotional trauma has caused me to lose my memory, or maybe there are different versions shown?

Do you know I forgot about the ending, its been so many years since I saw it last on tv.

When I saw it first at the cinema it was at my local ABC,a wondeful cinema now a ten pin bowling club unfortunately.

I am sure your cinema was an equally magical place. Happy memories indeed of buying the film review, eating hot dogs, Pearl and Dean and we still had a comissionaire as well.

If you look on Youtube under ABC cinemas there is a video of a typical ABC Cinema intermission.

CHEERS!

Yes, usually in the smaller chains or privately run cinemas. Not that I tend to go to any of the big chain cinemas very often. But a lot of the smaller ones I frequent do have a bar. I'm almost surprised when I find one that doesn't have a bar

Steve
The NFT now allows you to take drinks into the cinema and my local arthouses positively encourage it (they make mor emoney on the drinks and carrot cake that on the tickets). As Steve says, it's always a bit of a shock to visit an Odeon since their values tend to be more Prohibitionist.

But didn't Odeons once have licensed bars ? I'm sure they did, no ? If so, when did the Temperence Movement take over the Odeon ? The Sally Army didn't buy it, did they ?

hardly ever go to the flicks now hate it , no atmosphere rushed in and out with no ice cream woman , no B movie, no clocks, no smoke that I hated drifting thru the light of the projector, but it all added to being at the pictures, so dont go now, we had the biggest picture hall in Europe at one time Greens Playhouse in glasgow with a bar, all long gone.

I hardly go to the flicks either Donna. The soundtrack is too noisy and worst of all only one film. If the running time was less than 90 minutes I would feel short changed.

Not like the days when I saw Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid and Fantastic Voyage on a double bill and was in the cimena for around four hours.

With a dvd including extras you can get a whole evenings enternatiment/

I bought "The Last Picture show" on DVD, there was a very good documentary that ran for an hour, highly enjoyable.

It was Cardiff

While the real ale revival was happening in the rest of the country, The good people of Wales still had to put up with Watneys Red Barrel or at best, Brains.

I love Wales and the Welsh people, but their beer could do with a drastic overhaul.

Most independent cinemas have bars, some Multiplexes too.

My personal favarourite is the gin counter (it's that small) at the Curzon Mayfair

Enjoy it before the Curzon's Health Brigade shuts it down.

And what's all this about me having me leg off?

I don't think there's a single cinema in New York City where you can purchase an alcoholic beverage. Although in case you didn't know there are two types of licenses here one for beer and wine and another for hard liqour. That's why lots of small cafes only sell beer and wine, I think the hard liqour license is hard to get and epensive to renew.
