What a great decade for British Films. My favourites amongst them were:
Prick Up Your Ears
Gregory's Girl
Withnail and I
Scandal
Hope and Glory
The Meaning of Life
Brazil
A Fish called Wanda
1984
No Surrender
The Elephant Man
Midnight Express

Brazil
Withnail & I

These two films seem to split the film viewing public. You either loved them, or loathed them.

I love Water; I'm not sure if it's good, or if it's just so bad that it's good!

It's amazing to me that Excalibur finds itself in so many lists of favourites in this thread for all it's flaws and shortcomings it still remains a very interesting film as do most of Boorman's efforts.

Indeed. The greatest film ever. How I longed to be a "fast, flash fella" in a sooped up Cortina. Happy daze!

The Draughtsman's Contract.

I also liked 1984 (if that's the right word), but after that I'm groping ...
