Default Best Stiff Upper Lip Film

Nominations for the best portrayal of Stiff Upper Lip-edness in a British Film, if you will.

Personally, I've seen no lip stiffer than Johnny Mill's in Morning Departure.

(This should, in fairness, be coupled with the 'Best Snivelling Coward Who Comes Good' Award for Dickie Attenborough)

Any thoughts?

The Way to the Stars wins, notably the scene when Baz commiserates with Johnny on Michael Redgrave's death ('I'm terribly sorry about David ...ooh look, a spare bed!' 'Yes, bad show wasn't it')

Noel Coward - I remember as a young lad during the war years going to the cinema and seeing him and all his Public School cronies thinking to myself "Who the hell talks like that". I didn't understand 'class system' at the time but all these toffee nosed stiff upper lipped types I hated especially when a 'supposed' cockney cab driver pulled up and said "What Ho Guv, where to?" It was jobs for the boys and not based on talent for the job - so there!!!

I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.

Default A Night to Remember

The 1958 film A Night to Remember with lots of stiff upper lip unlike the 1997 Titanic film.
