I quite enjoyed the 1962 film The Break. The Broken Horseshoe is indeed an excellent Francis Durbridge mystery, the presence of Elizabeth Sellars enlivens the film I thought.

Watched A Touch of Class last night. I never really think of Glenda Jackson as a great beauty but she looks quite lovely in this film.

It stands the test of time well and is still a good romp. Nadim Sawalha doing his version of Manuel is great slapstick

The Bank Job.

Entertaining as a guilty pleasure as it isn't that good. Clunky dialogue, some wooden acting but it remained quite watchable.

Written by Dick Clement & Ian La Frenais, my favorite part was realising that the main character - Jason Statham's Terry Leather - would later turn up in the writers' second series of Auf Wiedersehen, Pet played by James Booth!

Last night I watched the extremely well made drama film S.O.S Pacific from 1959 which was directed by Guy Green and starring Richard Attenborough, Pier Angeli, John Gregson, Eddie Constantine, Eva Bartok, Gunner Mollar, Jean Anderson, Clifford Evans Cec Linder, Harold Kasket and Cyril Shaps.

A flying boat has to ditch off an island in the Pacific. Along with the injured owner-pilot played by John Gregson and the stewardess played by Pier Angeli, the passengers include a policeman played by Clifford Evans, and his smuggler prisoner played by Eddie Constantine, a slimey lay-about character played by Richard Attenborough, a physicist played by Gunnar Moller, a good-time girl played by Eva Bartok and an upper-class spinster woman played by Jean Anderson. Marooned on the island they find all is not what it seems and the stark realisation begins to sink in.

An extremely well made tense drama which keeps you on your seat. Some very good performances from the whole cast.

Default Father Came Too (1964)

I watched this film last night and overall was quite impressed with the various performances. Leslie Phillips was on fine form and the scene where the fire engine disrupts the pageant, was a who's who in british comedy. There were a lot of well known faces dressed in various outfits. I could have sworn that one of them was a very young Jasper Carrot!!
I dont think that you can beat a good old British comedy from this period. Looking back to the 1950's early 60's, you will NEVER see the likes of those classic British actors again.

Stanley Kubrick's Boxes -

This doco was an interesting insight into Kubrick's working methods and mind. There's hoarding and there's Hoarding!! SB was a past master at this.

I do wonder thought if, with some of his memos, he was testing his staff to see if they dared question him on some of the things he came up with.

Interesting to see former FENN STREET GANG member Leon Vitali interviewed (albeit briefly). For a while now I have been curious to know he he fell into Kubrick's inner circle- never struck me as a great actor.

SB must have had some sort of autistic trait to take his 'methods' to such extremes.

I think you've got Terry leather ,mixed up with kenny ames dremble wedge.

Terry leatherplayed by Eric Mason had the bar on the costa del sol ,while Kenny ames played by James Booth, sold the house to Bill Paterson that the boys were renovating .

One of my guilty pleasures ,watching countless reruns on Sky ,when there's nothing else on
