The latest Marple mystery Towards Zero. Great fun with guest stars Tom Baker and Eileen Atkins in fine form and an appearance from Greg Rusedski as a tennis player!

The episode itself though was disappointing.

Sadly not, though it did end with the man and the woman finding each other. This has happened in every episode of these Miss Marple versions, why?

But no drug addicts? What is St Mary Mead coming to?

My favourite ever tv Agatha Christie (apart from last season's Doctor Who episode, obviously) was Cards on the Table which had so many evil gays that even the police inspector was being blackmailed for having done porno.

Thanks to a friendly forum member, the first segment of THREE DANGEROUS LADIES - Mrs. Amworth, from the E.F. Benson story.

Whilst Glynis Johns is a very modern Mrs. Amworth, they still managed to make the short story quite atmospheric. Decent cast as well and I was interested to see the young chap who played Stephanie Beacham's fella in DRACULA A.D. 1972 in this - don't recall ever seeing him in anything other than A.D. 72; and the poor chap falls foul of dark forces here as well!

I shall watch the other two 'ladies' with interest, to see how those stories stand up. The next one is a Robert Bloch...

Watched John Gilling's post war RAF pilots in training film " High Flight " starring Ray Milland, Anthony Newley, Kenneth Haigh etc.

A typical 50's attempt to mix drama and comedy that doesn't really come off, a very wooden Ray Milland and a leaden script certainly didn't help. Worth watching if you're an Anthony Newley completist other than that you'd struggle to stay with it.

Watched "Went The Day Well"........one of Mrs Chevyman's birthday presents from me.

Very enjoyable with very young Thora Hird and Patricia Heyes doing sterling work

A Happy and Healthy New Year to all

After Rififi came The Flying Scot.

It opens with a ten minute sequence of the perfect heist, all filmed with no dialogue. The film then flashes back and plays out the heist and what really takes place.

B-movie material but watchable nevertheless.

Ken Russell's Lisztomania - completely bonkers and great fun: where else do you get a Richard Wagner/Frankenstein's Monster/Adolf Hitler hybrid being tackled by Franz Liszt flying a spaceship?

Also Paris Je T'Aime eighteen short films of about 6 minutes duration by different directors concerning that marvellous city. Some good, some bad, some indifferent with Bob Hoskins, Miranda Richardson, Marianne Faithfull, Emily Mortimer and Rufus Sewell representing les rosbifs.
