There is another version of that true story called Murder in the Heartland with Tim Roth. That one is well worth watching too.

Jingle bells Batman smells ... I heard that at school Daddy.

Jack the ripper with Michael Caine and Lewis Collins, a bit Morsey and very good. Also just watched Coogan's Bluff on ITV 4, had almost forgotten what a cracking little film it is. Clint at his best and a top score from one of my faves, Lalo Schifrin.

Couldn't agree more Chev, beautiful and moving

I was lucky enough to catch the stage version early this year with Charles Dance as C S Lewis and that was fabulous too.

That, I would have liked

I must search out my copy of his short book "A Grief Observed" in which he writes candidly about his wife's and how he dealt with it

Charles Dance was indeed very good in the part.

I also saw the original production back in 1989 with Nigel Hawthorne and Jane Lapotaire.

My last memory of Anton Rodgers was in C S Lewis: Beyond Narnia a BBC docu/drama. It was hidden amongst the Christmas schedule a couple of years ago. Wonderful.

Default BADLANDS (Malick 1973)

Terrence Malick's BADLANDS is intentionally thoughtful. It is not a slam-bam bloodfest, though there's more really chilling violence than in a decade of slasher movies.

Watched David Eady's superb little thriller " Faces in the Dark " starring John Gregson, Michael Dension etc. John Gregson plays a buisnessman blinded in an accident who suspects that people are out to kill him.

A very effective film

Agree Smudge, I love Dr. Terror

At one point I cried 'Please STOP', and then it did: it just stopped stone dead!

I'm planning to watch Life For Ruth soon, which to be honest sounds much more like my sort of film, but I am very worried that McGoohan might ruin it ...

The other night I saw SLANDER with Van Johnson and an excellent performance by Steve Cochran, MUCH better ... all the film guides slate it, but I guess that's only to be expected ...
It's all opinions I disagree however, a real cracker in my opinion

Fiona''s Story, an excellent one-off tv play (something there are far too few of nowadays) with Jeremy Northam and Gina McKee as a supected child porn-downloader and his wife both giving fantastic performances and fine cameos from Nicholas Farrell and Amanda Root (both of whom should really be getting the leading roles). Well worth catching on the i-player if you didn't see it.
