Courtesy of a fellow member, I watched Gerry Anderson's Crossroads to Crime, his only attempt at directing a feature film. This is a rather nifty little B-movie with some great location photography and an always interesting story from the pen of Edgar Wallace.

Following this I watched a rather splendid football match between Everton and Standard Liege. The UEFA Cup shows the Champions League what entertainment is all about. The result was 2-2 and it was exciting end to end stuff from start to finish. Well done chaps!

Watched Peter Graham Scott's B thriller " Account Rendered " starring Griffith Jones. Ursula Howells and Honor Blackamn in a tale of who murdered a philandering wife.

A neat little film and the hour or so running time sped along

Default The Citadel 1938

The Citadel 1938

Revisited Robert Donat as the idealistic doctor in AJ Cronins novel.
Stirring cinema,Robert Donat is as ever, excellent, supported splendidly by Ralph Richardson and, looking back, in my humble opinion a fairly good history lesson on the social and medical ethics of thirties Britain

The final two films in the Bill Elliott Noir series .... Chain of Evidence and Footsteps in the Night. Both of these are really good films with bags of atmosphere and some sharp writing and direction. Elliott retired after these two which was a shame, but after a thirty year career he was entitled to a rest. This is a really good series for fans of US B-thrillers and come highly recommended by The Bat.

Yes an excellent film. Have you seen John Mills and Trevor Howard in " So Well Remembered " set in a similar timeframe and tackles many of the same issues as " The Citadel " does ?

So Well Remembered is a fine, fine film (as is The Citadel) though the inclusion of a psychopathic librarian stretches credulity a little...

Last night I watched Marc Forster's film of " The Kite Runner " never having read the book I was unsure of what to expect, pleased to say I was hooked on this tale of two boyhood Afgahn friends. Well told and not overtly sentimental

Any inclusion of any type of librarian in a film must surely enhance a film???

Well, obviously ... and it's good to see Johnny Mills making a brave stand against the Reactionary Forces of Darkness who don't want to hire a woman. Shame she turns out to be a Wrong 'Un though.

Horror Hospital - hamfisted send-up of genre but a Michael Gough on top form and Dennis Price as a camper-than-camp travel agent.

Thats the joke that killed the Music Hall !

The Crimson Pirate, 1952. One of the most entertaining pirate films I've ever seen. Burt Lancaster and Nick Cravat are both superb and do their own stunts of course.

Gavin & Stacey
Episode 1, series 1. Starting a re-run on BBC3.
A wonderful, charming series brilliantly written and superbly performed.

Catch it on iPlayer (if you can)
