The Unguarded Moment, a terrific 50s melodrama with Esther Williams.

Jingle bells Batman smells ... I heard that at school Daddy.

Watched J lee-Thompson's " Murder Without Crime " starring Dennis Price and Derek Farr. Despite the prescence of Mr Price this was very slow going and probably worked better on the stage ( the director having written the original play upon which the film was based ).

Probably one for DP completeists only.

"Legends Of The Fall" (DVD)
"The Avengers:Silent Dust" (Recorded)
"Beeching in Hindsight" (Recorded)

Had great fun spotting the cast in Silent Dust. Jack Watling, William Franklin, Conrad Phillips, Robert Dorning, Isobel Blake and the wonderful Aubrey Morris

The Happy Family (1952) DVD-R. This splendid comedy is the perfect fare for a wet Sunday afternoon. The always excellent Stanley Holloway and Kathleen Harrison star as the Lords, owners of a corner shop preventing completion of the Festival of Britain complex. A host of welcome faces appear including George Cole and Naunton Wayne, with Dandy Nichols memorable as a batty aunt.

We saw "Spamalot" at the Palace Theatre in Cambridge Circus/Shaftesbury Avenue. Had great front row seats (via John Lewis's Greenbee operation, two seats for the price of one, £60 each down to £30).

Great show, Sanjeev Bhaskar has settled into the starring role really well. Lovely theatre too.

I believe its ending in early January, prior to a tour.

Amazing Journey : The Story Of The Who (2007).

One of the better docos on this great group.
Most of the info has been told before and I did think that the film could have delved more into the lives of each band member.
Yet there is some amazing footage of early Who concerts and studio sessions - and of course the music is superb.

Rock on.

Dave.

I watched The South Bank Show: The One Ronnie with Ronnie Corbett. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was wonderful to see Ronnie and his wife, Anne, out shopping talking to everybody. Trouble was, I was just really getting into it - when it finished!

Seperate Tables: Separate Tables (1958)

Fifty years old now. Niven's performance was a bit more hammy than I remember it, but still a great film.

Vantage Point. A pretty good US thriller ruined by an awful ending.

"Das Boot". Three and a half hours went so quickly

Brilliant from start to finish. I loved Jurgen Prochnow's performance

LIVE AND LET DIE - With the release of Sir Roger's autobiog., found myself drawn to his first outing as 007. Moore became 'Bond Lite' in the 1970s, but he was quite a credible threat to double agent Rosie Carver in the film; something which I had forgotten. The first appearance of Sheriff J.W. Pepper, however, signposted the way for the broader brush comedy which would soon befall the series...

Hammer's THE HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES- Mrs. Smudge requested this (for the umpteenth time of seeing) to test out the new HD Ready box in the bedroom. Still a cracking film and great entertainment yet again.

Bank Raiders (1958) A so so crime B with Peter Reynolds, good old Sydney Tafler and giving Brando a run for his money Arthur Mullard as a henchman.

Diamond Jim (1935) A typically fast moving 30's slice of Hollywood with Edward Arnold in the title role. Fantastic Stuff.

The Psychopath (1966) (DVD-R). Thanks to a fellow 'Britmovian' I finally got to see this effective and quite creepy horror come murder mystery from Amicus, directed by Freddie Francis. Dogged Inspector Patrick Wymark is on the case following a trail of corpses, while Margaret Johnson excells at batty. Sadly another of the Amicus output that never gets a TV screening and a DVD release would be welcomed.
