Actually, not quite. So bad it was good, I couldn't get away from it. Addictively bad, it was fun. Just don't think it has any resemblance to real life.
It's not on till Friday here, and I'm worried about what I've read of it.
And as a mediævalist, I'm rather fed up of continued Templar-abuse.

Brannigan. Thanks forum, not a classic but good fun and I have to admit to liking John Wayne, ALWAYS! and Judy G. .........

Then 'Pierrepoint'. If Tim Spall & Juliet Stevenson have done a bad film, well, I've missed it! Top stuff. A britmovie we should all be proud of!

.....You couldn't hear it, if they were shooting at me with howitzers!

Pastor Hall (1940)

just watched this- thanks to a kind gentleman from this forum.

Well! what can I say it's a pretty amazing story for its time and knowing a bit about its history makes the film pack even more of a punch - the Roosevelt explanation, the banning of it in the US and the stalling on production because of Chamberlain all make it one of the most interesting films I have watched in ages.

The German village in this film mirrors a kind of little England, this in fact makes the film propaganda even more powerful - very much like Went the Day Well (1942).

A recommended film to see - very powerful Thanks for the recommendation Steve.

I like the arrival of the Stormtroopers in the village, preceded by a flock of sheep - subtle

Also, Bernard Miles' line when Pastor Hall comments on his becoming a Stormtrooper; "Well, it's a job, Herr Pastor. I've been out of work so long."

Have to agree about "Pierrepoint" top notch film and performances. The sort of film that we ( Britain ) are still so good at making.

Watched Pontecorvo's "Battle of Algiers" for the umpteenth time, a real masterclass in film making.

Not a bit Freddy. I think, from what I've read here and on the Bonekickers Thread, I might just give it a miss or at least store it on my DVD hard disk.

But thanks

Hell Is Sold Out - Great cast and potentially a good idea, although the title is slightly misleading implying something more dramatic than is given. Bit thin as a storyline. Atty has gone into print to say it was one of the low points of his acting career.

Thats the joke that killed the Music Hall !

Straightheads on Film 4.

A very poor revenge film that has Gillian Anderson and Danny Dyer planning vengeance on those who attacked them. It has many echoes of Straw Dogs but is saddled with a truly awful screenplay and the presence of Danny Dyer, who cannot do the simplest things on screen at all convincingly.

Anderson is quite good in a thinly drawn role and it's mercifully short.

I caught this risibly bad film too, and thought I was dreaming. What on earth was Gillian Anderson (a fine actor, in my opinion) doing in this film ... and with Danny Dyer, of all people?

The Quare Fellow with Patrick McGoohan and Sylvia Sims. An absorbing drama about the effects of captial punishment on a young warder and the wife of the condemned man. Superb acting from the entire cast, who perform this adaptation of Brandan Behan's acclaimed play with great skill and sincerity. If you think capital punishment is a great idea give this a look ... it may make you think again. Highly recommended.

Went to the Grand Theatre, Leeds to watch Agatha Christie's And then there Were None. Excellent production, based on Christie's own adaptation of her novel, with a very capable cast, including Gerald Harper, Dennis Lill and MArk Wynter.

Aside from the fact it absolutely chucked it down last night, it made for a very nice birthday evening for me.

Many Happies from me, Lord B!

Glad you had a good night.

I trust that Mr. Harper now has his lines off pat? He fluffed a few when we saw ATTWN at the start of the tour - recovered most, had to have just one prompt...
