Ordered this from ebay a couple of days ago, sounds a good un.

Watched a Lee Patterson double bill.
The Key Man, a pretty muddled search for missing man story and Soho Incident, a man infiltrates crooks gang story, which was much better.

Dead Set - a mini-series that aired on E4 a couple of weeks ago written by the famously caustic reviewer Charlie Brooker.

Zombies take over the world and the last outpost of humanity is the Big Brother household and a handful of celeb-wannabe survivors. An odd but watchable mixture of heavy handed satire and squelchiness. Davina McCall plays herself and a zombiefied Davina and quite well too...

Donkey Punch
After the tabloid furore I was expecting something shocking, but the film doesn't live up to the outrage to title whipped up and is fairly clichéd and dull. If you take the hedonism of Billy Zane from Dead Calm and mix it with the claustrophobic friends-turn-against-themselves of Shallow Grave then you have the plot - though sadly it's not a patch on either aforementioned film.

Basil - an oddity from 10 years ago.

Adapted from a Wilkie Collins novel this is a Victorian mystery/romance with Gothic undertones. What is peculiar is that the two lead roles are played by Americans - Jared Leto and Christian Slater, neither of whom are much cop. Thankfully Derek Jacobi is though.

Now, if it had been filmed in the 40s with Dennis Price and Stewart Granger...

Episodes from A SHARP INTAKE OF BREATH. I can't stick much modern David Jason, but remembered enjoying these from way back. Sure enough I enjoyed them very much again this time round; the little man's struggle against the world is very funny.

BREATH and EDGAR BRIGGS are long overdue for the Network DVD treatment...

Folly To Be Wise. Not a laugh aloud film, with a mostly feeble screenplay, adapted from the stage and it showed, but Alastair Sim was very funny. Also memorable for the only film in living memory to make Martita Hunt anything less than completely petrifying

For me it eas Roy Boulting's excellent 1947 drama " Fame is the Spur " a political saga lossely based on the life of Ramsay McDonald, a fine film with a crackerjack central performance from Michael Redgrave

You were better off watching this one off the box Windy - the recently released US DVD (in the Icons Of Horror compilation) is a terrible print - all grainy...

A Derren Nesbitt extravaganza for The Bat during the course of yesterday ..... Life in Danger/The Man in the Back Seat/Give Us Tomorrow/Burke and Hare. Four great performances from DN and a marvellous day of entertainment for me.

Jingle bells Batman smells ... I heard that at school Daddy.

Uncomplicated lowbrow cowboy film for me. Tall in the Saddle (1944) I recognised Ward Bond, Gabby Hayes and John Wayne of course. It is relaxing to let one of these wash over one on a wet windy Sunday afternoon. All in their stereotypical characters which is comforting.
