Marty Feldman documentary recorded from earlier in the week. Some very rare footage included in it

You're right there m'Lord, TTM is not quite as good as TGA but I think they are the top two later Tarzan films. New producer Sy Weintraub wanted to move away from the 'comedy animal' sequences and create pure adventure films. He certainly succeeded. Gordon Scott is a great Tarzan and IMHO is on a par with Weismuller. They both did equally well in different types of film. The first two MGM pictures are superb and with Scott's two colour pictures create the four must have films for Tarzan fans.

Gordon Scott for me every day. He had (seemingly) the best yodel by a long chalk.
Whilst I liked Ron Ely in the series it didn't quite have the appeal of a feature film although he insisted on doing all his own stunts and sustained many injuries in the process.
Jai played by Manuel Padella Jnr.,looked like he'd suddenly appeared from the Amazonian rainforest .

He did! He first appeared in Tarzan and the Great River which was set and filmed in Brazil, although MPJr is a native Californian.

I grew up with Ron Ely as Tarzan, anyone remember him?

.....You couldn't hear it, if they were shooting at me with howitzers!

Double bill of "All Coppers are.............. 1972 and "Here we go round the Mulberry Bush 1967

All coppers are..................1972
Rather poor story of a policemen and villains in London, slow moving story with vacant characters and none of them likeable, a scary but small cameo from an ever villainous looking Ian Hendry doesnt save the film for me.

Here we go round the Mulberry Bush 1967.
This is more like it ,A bright and breezy psychedelic tale of coming of age,it races along at a hectic pace and never lets up,every actor in every scene attacks the script with such verve and gusto it makes it a pleasure to watch.

Sidney Gilliat's excellent noir mystery " Fortune is a Woman" starring Jack Hawkins.

A film I had not heard of before I joined this forum

This is England. Not exactly a barrel of laughs but some very fine performances and a true conviction to the art of film making.

Scholes mentioned him in the post twp ahead of yours!

He was the first TV Tarzan ... he was also Doc Savage-The Man of Bronze. These days he is a successful author.

Default First of the Few.

Niven & Howard are excellant in their supporting roles. The context, given that it was made in 1942, should be kept in mind! A great cast and OK, rather scratcy copy in places but still highly watchable! Niven & Howard? Support? yep, I think so!

The Star is the Spitfire! Steals the show, sigh for a Merlin............

Tonight will be tricky! My 6 film Guinness set has arrived!

Kwai, Cromwell, HMS Defiant, Murder by Death, Havana & The Prisoner..............

Now where do I start with that lot..............

.....You couldn't hear it, if they were shooting at me with howitzers!

I love Alec Guiness' performance as Charles I in "Cromwell", for me he steals the film from Richard Harris

Absolutely. Harris gives it a decent try as Cromwell but he's miscast. Now if they'd cast Paul Scofield...

His accent wavers a bit though when he remembers he's meant to be Scottish

Me too .... and the physical resemblance is uncanny. Harris is quite dynamic but a too 'angry young man' for me. Timothy Dalton is quite good in it as well.

Yes, Timothy Dalton as Prince Rupert is very good as are so many of the supporting cast e.g. Robert Morley, Charles Gray etc

Also liked Timothy Dalton as Darnley in "Mary Queen of Scots"
