Default Watched 2 nite
Just had my 1st ever viewing of Straw Dogs. I know, I've led a sheltered Life. Watchable yarn and filmed in our county (or is that country) Cornwall.

An early Mike Leigh film, Grown Ups.

It was good to see his old stalwarts in their early days including Leslie Manville, Phil Davies, Janine Duvitski and a surprising performance from Lyndsay Duncan. Her hubby was played by Sam Kelly who always turns out well.

Brenda Blethyn played her off-the-wall character to good effect; this film clearly set her up for Secrets and Lies.

Another thread here prompted me to rewatch Daniel Birt's excellent film noir " The Interrupted Journey " starring Richard Todd and Valerie Hobson in a tale of marital infidelity and a train wreck.

The film deserves to be more widely known as it is well written and suspensful,

Recommended if you haven't seen it.

What was it about Valerie Hobson and train wrecks?
She was also the leading lady in Train of Events which featured a huge train wreck.
And then there was her real life husband

Truth be told, I went into this rather hoping I wouldn't enjoy it as I cherish the originals so much!

I was pleasantly suprised! It has been brought up to date rather well! Rupert Everett looked far too much like Esther Rantzen for my liking but Colin Firth did well as the baddie, Russell Brand's Flash, lent heavily on GC - as it should be!

The show stealers were the 4th form twins! Great performance, the vodka 'inquest' with Flash was great! The 'Italian Job' with the explosives, wonderful!

Good fun to watch - I rather liked it!
.....You couldn't hear it, if they were shooting at me with howitzers!

I watched a rather splendid US TV movie from the 60s called The Outsider with Darren McGavin. It reminded me a bit of Public Eye in that the story was down to Earth, the detective made mistakes, had little money but always tried to do the right thing. I now have 6 episodes of the subsequent series to watch. Highly recommended.

"Epic" an episode of The Avengers, or as it stated in the titles "The Avengers in

Color" ( no "u"). Anyway it was a good episode featuring Kenneth J

Warren as a Film director & Peter Wyngarde & Isa Miranda as (well past it)

actors. Excellent!
