Default Max bygraves in spare the rod
Anyone remembers this 1961 film with Max Bygraves playing a teacher at a tough inner city school. Must have seen it first round about 1968 as a kid. Enjoyed it then and also when I viewed it years later. I always thought that Max was quite good in this role and The Radio Times guide is of the same opinion.

As a singer and comedioan Max has never been to my taste,but credit where its due.

He has a fair stab at the role but I think there's more credible performances from Pleasence and Geoffrey Keen. Bygraves seemed to reprise his sympathetic character from Cry from the Streets.
