Default Telstar (2008) Joe Meek

Am wondering if anyone has any any info on this new film?
It has been in 'post production' for some time now but it seems no info can be gleaned from anywhere!
Telstar centres on the life of legendary pop producer Joe Meek in the early sixties.
A troubled Man indeed, though a genius and very innovative, he spiralled into descent amidst drug abuse, homosexuality, delusional paranoia and crashing financial straits.
His demise in 1967 was tragic enough and he never really did get his reward in life.
Can't wait for this to come out, the stage production in the West End was good, though very maudlin sometimes.

IMDb Pro notes that they started filming in July 2007 and moved to post-production in August 2007

That was the last time anyone added any production notes about it

Perhaps. But some films do spend more than a year in post

Hope not!........I've been looking forward to the release of this Movie being a fan of Joe Meek's productions since it was first mooted, I recall reading of Location filming in the Holloway Road, they only had to make a few cosmetic changes for the buildings used to appear '60's'.

I mean, Kevin Spacey is in it, he's major Star!.........ain't he?

I gather that on the recordings made there you can hear trolleybuses that were running in the Holloway Road outside! I think Heinz came from Southampton? There was a smal bio on him some years back with him interviewed in and around Town Quay.

LOL!, at least the Movie-makers are trying to be authentic, can't quite recall Trolleybuses myself but in the Movie 'Hell-driver's a Trolleybus drops of Stanley Baker in Brentford High Street and you can hear the whiring electric motor as the bus departs

Heinz originates from the town of Eastleigh, next to Southampton, a road on an Industrial Estate has been named after him (as has a road after Benny Hill, also from Eastleigh)

Poor Heinz, he ended his days suffering with Motor Neurone disease, after his premature death Fans organised a tribute concert to raise funds for his Mother.......

Isn't a year about standard for post-production? I've seen loads of newspaper articles referencing it so I don't think there's anything suspicious about its non-appearance - maybe it's going to be released at the Toronto or London Film Festivals?

A year certainly isn't all that unusual. Especially with films that involve any sort of CGI or other computer based fakery, that always takes time.

Gangs of New York was filmed from September 2000 - April 2001 but wasn't released until December 2002. And that didn't have much CGI

Does anyone remeber a documentary, or TV show profile of Heinz working as a milkman ? I could be wrong but for some reason i have an image of him delivering milk, as he could no longer make enough as a musician.
