I'd love to see any of these:-

It's All Over Town (1963) Dusty Springfield, Acker Bilk, The Hollies, Frankie Vaughan, Clodagh Rogers, The Bachelors.
Just For You (1964) Freddie & The Dreamers, Peter & Gordon, The Applejacks, The Merseybeats, Millie Small.
Cuckoo Patrol (1967) Freddie & The Dreamers, Kenneth Connor, Arthur Mullard, John Le Mesurier.

This thread reminds me that its high time that I looked out for "Mrs Brown You Have A Lovely Daughter ," on TCM, its always on. Not a great film but an amiable romp, just the right film to relax in front of the telly after a long day at work.

Not totally "kosher", but try BUNNY LAKE IS MISSING which features a fairly brief (but great!!) appearance by the Zombies.

A lot of people went to see it when it was first released (circa 1965?) purely for the appearance of the Zombies and consequently felt somewhat cheated due to their minimal screen time; but despite that it's a good movie and includes Lawrence Olivier among the cast members.

Also, try EXPRESSO BONGO perhaps Cliff Richard's first movie (?) from 1959 or 1960...

It's a bit lame but appeals to purists (like me) !

David Essex, Ringo Starr, "That'll Be the Day" Not bad film if a bit bleak. James Booth and Rosemary Leach make fine appearances.

"Stardust" was the sequel, with Adam Faith and Keith Moon! Reasonable depiction of 70s style and excess I thought.

I suppose you could stretch a point and include Light up the Sky as Tommy Steele does a turn in it....

Don't forget the appearance of The Amen Corner in Scream and Scream Again - at least if you watch the US DVD. When it's been shown on UK TV or the old VHS, all their music has been replaced (along with the excellent Jazz-y score).

The Ghost Goes Gear from 1966 was released on DVD in 2006 in the USA but you may still be able to pick up a copy.

The film isn't very much but it does feature performances from The Spencer Davis Group, Sheila White, The Lorne Gibson Trio, The St Louis Union, The M6, The Three Belles and Acker Bilk and Dave Berry.

The performance Dave Berry gives in Ghost Goes Gear is worth the price of purchase. I'm a big fan of What a Whopper with Adam Faith and if you can find a copy check out Toomorrow with Olivia Newton John, not one of Val Guests finest moments but it does have a certain something that elevates it from the truly awful.

Related but not extactly pop movies - Peter Watkins' Privilege has finally seen the light of day, though its only Region 1 at the mo. I would also recommend the short film The Committee if you fancy something off the wall and symbolic. This also features Paul Jones along with Arthur Brown with an original score by Pink Floyd...to be honest this film has to be one of my favourite finds since the advent of DVD. What was life like before DVD!

Also aired on TV occasionally is "Live It Up" with David Hemmings as a post office worker who forms a beat group with his mates.

Has cameos by Kenny Ball & His Jazzmen, Gene Vincent (my 50's hero) and Patsy Ann Noble. Ritchie Blackmore as guitarist of "The Outlaws" playing at the ballroom.

There is also a decent role and a song from the late Jennifer Moss who was well known at the time as 'Lucille Hewitt' in Coronation Street.

Another good example is the film "It's Trad Dad" which features Craig Douglas and Helen Shapiro wandering around a recording studio looking for some producer or other, and each time they open a door, a different recording artist is making a record. A host of recording stars of the time are featured.

I think someone may have mentioned this already suggesting it is mainly jazz bands, but actually, although there are around six or seven jazz bands featured they are outnumbered by the popstars, such as Chubby Checker, John Leyton, Gene Vincent, Del Shannon, The Paris Sisters and more. The golden days of traditional jazz bands were really over thus the introduction of the pop stars to boost audiences.

It pops up now and then on TCM in the UK.

"I want to be a sailor - sailing out to sea"

Another worthwhile film is Be My Guest from 1965 starring David Hemings, Andrea Monet and Steve Marriott before he formed The Small Faces.

Artists who feature are Jerry Lee Lewis, The Nashville Teens, The Nite Shades, The Zephyrs as (Slash Wildly and the Cut-Throats), Kenny Bernard & The Wranglers. Joyce Blair is also in the film and sings a song called Gotta Getaway Now.
