Default The Man in the Sky
Just watched The Man in the Sky - Jack Hawkins. I was amazed that they kept the supense up for an hour - thought it was the beginning of a bio-type film. Excellent film, made better by the music. Astonishing when you consider that the plane was a workaday commercial type, not a cutting-edge jet.
I thought I heard echoes of The Cruel Sea in the music, so I checked IMDb, but can't seem to find where the music credit lives ....

Did you have a look at Soundtrack listing, which is on the left side navigation panel. Looking at the original music credit the're different composers.
