Stourbridge eh ?

We go to regular TV events at the Town Hall there ; I'll have to look see if there's anybody walking round drinking cans of Fosters !

Would those be the Kaleidoscope events you're referring to? I've often meant to go along to those, but since I've become aware of them they've always clashed withDerby playing at home so I've not been able to attend any.

Yes they are HD -

They're more than worth a look. Last time we had MICHAEL CHAPMAN (Editor/Producer of PUBLIC EYE ; amongst a million other things) and PETER CREGEEN (Director of SANDBAGGERS ; also amongst a million other things).

Lots of RARE screenings, a good atmosphere and the chance to help raise money for a very good cause...

Check the web page Kaleidoscope - The Classic Television Organisation

Next event 11th June.

Have you seen the British Dialect Translator?
That includes translations from English into "Brummie" which, my friends in Birmingham tell me, is really translating things into what is more like a Black Country dialect.

It also does English into Cockney, Irish, Scouse, Geordie, Scottie, Jolly Well Spoken and you can even translate English into "Ali G"

well dayna means didnt want to, we tend to say things like tye for toy. bye for boy, sond for sand, I guess your best bet for learnin the accent is to just get the tone of it, slopen up your tongue n just say tayisi startin quiet n gettin quieter at the end, n sing it, tayisi means it isnt is it
as in t'aye is i, but ya gorra join ya werds up, like if i was sayin "cya ame" i'd say seeyarame, a funny thing is that t'aye sounds like taye for tea, so ya can say t'aye taye tiuym, meanin it isnt tea time

"We saw this blowk flowtin in the cut and we wuz frit to joth he wuz jed!"

and

"Oi went fishin' the other dye an' oi corta whale!"

"What sort of a whale?"

"A bleedin bicycle whale!"

"...the chairman of Littlewoods stores made a Keynote speech!"

That's, "Frit to jeth" Sam Your 'jed' is correct, hence follows 'jeth'. It really is rather appalling, isn't it ?
