I vaguely remember that story being reported on News At Ten.

An interview with Peter Brayham is featured among the Extras on The Sweeney boxset.

Going back to Sitting Target, it was one of the first films I saw on the Sky movie channels (probably TCM). In one scene, there was a lot of emphasis on a bathroom with large mirrors. Can someone refresh my memory as to what happened in it? Was there a bloody murder or something?

It might have been this scene - where Ollie bumped off Frank Finlay

I don't recall Frank in this movie at all (the mirrors must have made more impression!), or indeed Edward Woodward, surprisingly as I'm a fan of both, but that must be the scene. I remember the dramatic ending mostly with the cars. Thanks a lot Sir Olly!

You're probably familiar with all this stuff already but for other fans of the movie check this out:

Interesting discussion on Sitting Target and Oliver Reed:

Oliver Missed: Sitting Target (1972) and the downward spiral of Oliver Reed

Yes it is good, isn't it. It's sometimes nice to discuss a film in the context of when it was released, rather than retrospectively.

I'll certainly view it in a different light when I view it next.

Thanks for the kind words, SirOllyBolly and Batman, I wrote that piece which has, strangely enough, been one of the most read on our site. I had written a piece on Reed's version of "Ten Little Indians" which has also proved very popular...a check of the search terms used to get to the site shows that there are lots of people interested in "Oliver Reed" (which I think as wonderful).

Look, in hindsight I was too harsh on "Sitting Target" (in terms of an overall piece of entertainment). Compared to many such thrillers it is not too bad, although there is a sense of tiredness and formula about the whole affair. And Reed is perfectly okay, but because it asks nothing of him, he was hardly not going to deliver.

There was a quality Reed had which was quite unique and I just wish we had seen more of it and for a lot longer.

A bloody shame, really.
