There was a cricket film out earlier in the year entitled Wondrous Oblivion. It could have been dubbed "Bowl it like Flintoff" as it owes a lot to another sport/race film.

There's a farcical cricket match at the close of Three Men in a Boat.

One image that springs to mind is the dreamy scenes of Forest Whitaker running up to bowl in his cricket whites in The Crying Game.

The best pure cricket film I've seen is the Aussie tv series Bodyline of the 1980s.

What about Charters & Caldicott (Basil Radford & Naunton Wayne) in The Lady Vanishes (1938) and again in Night Train to Munich (1940) as the cricket obsessed Englishmen abroad?

A much better image of English sports fans than the more recent lager louts.

No cricket scenes in those films and the films aren't exactly based around cricket matches - but the cricket does play an important role in the story (usually as comic relief).

Just for the record I thought I should mention that I have recently found a good copy of BODYLINE after many years of searching.

Not a cricket fan as such, but here's my contribution. Jim Dale's cricketing prowess in Carry On Follow That Camel, especially batting coconul shells with gunpower and a lit fuse.

You've missed out on one - and 'the best recreation of cricket's Golden Age made', or so I once read - ''The Go Between'' (1971)...I'm bias, as it's my favourite sport

Here's another (albeit a TV play) - P'tang Yang Kipperbang - one of Jack Rosenthal's plays about a school boy who dreams of kissing Abigail and playing test match cricket.

There is also another Basil Radford / Naunton Wayne film, It's Not Cricket (1949).

Personally I'm not keen on the game itself but love it's depiction in the movies, so was highly disappointed when The Final Test was due to be shown last week but was cancelled because of the cricket!

Another one, though a bit off-beat, is the 1967 Michael Crawford/John Lennon film HOW I WON THE WAR in which an army unit is assigned to make a cricket pitch behind enemy lines. Jack McGowran is court martialled for insubordination and Michael Hordern demands 'Don't you like war?!' McGowran : 'Oh I love war; I just don't like cricket'!

On watching alan bennets A Day Out 1972,on bbc4 last night, a nice scene of an impromptu cricket match, with chalk drawn wickets(no less) on a wall, brought back childhood memories especially the bit "OUT" ...WHICH WICKET? lol

TV movies include:
Several scenes in "The Prisoner" - "The Girl Who Was Death". Ironically, the first man at bat is John Drake. :)

Cricket team part of theme in "Deceived by Flight" " from Inspector Morse (third series).
