Hi all,
this is ed.. from LAMP
I'm trying to untangle some information about a British distribution company called Cinema International Corp (CIC)
They were a large company in the 70s and 80s located in Britain that distributed to a chain of theaters in several countries in Europe. They distributed Paramount and Universal films from the states...
I thought they had merged into the UCI theater chain in the 80s but I stumbled across some papers about the acquisition of UCI by Terra Firma in 2004 that made it sound like CIC was still a separate entity..

I'm really looking for a history...

I try to run down information for movie poster collectors.. and recently I've come across posters with the CIC logo from Japan and Australia... and I didn't know they ever went that far out.

Would anyone here know anything about them?
thanks for any help

CIC was created in the early 1970s as a London-based single distribution outlet for Universal, Paramount, United Artists and MGM films. In 1981 that function was taken over by UIP (United International Pictures), though I don't know if this was merely a cosmetic name change for the same company or whether UIP was a legally separate entity.

Either way, though, I suspect you need to research UIP rather than UCI - not least because UCI is a cinema chain, not a distributor (though UIP and UCI will inevitably do a huge amount of business together).

Let me get back to you on this, I have some info about CIC's Australian history. Just have to find where I have stored it.
