That's the one! Brilliant! I watched it as a kid on the telly, and it frightened the daylights out of me. Well, if that's science fiction, then that's my favourite British science fiction movie. Top stuff!

all out of gum. . .

Here's another forgotten Brit scifi film: 'Satellite in the Sky' (1956). I saw it in colour and scope as a small boy, and it was pretty impressive. Starred Kieron Moor, Lois Maxwell, Sir Donald Wolfit and Bryan Forbes. Now only available in a black n' white pan/scan version from US TV. Features a rocketship flight into orbit to launch a bomb too dangerous to test on Earth. Naturally, it all goes pear-shaped...

My favourite British Science Fiction movie (although the Science Fiction element is mostly in the subtext, so perhaps you chaps won't class it as Science Fiction)... is...

Drum roll...

'Link' (1986) - Directed by Richard Franklin and starring Elizabeth Shue and Terence Stamp.

I don't mind if this is disallowed as Sci Fi... because that element is way under the surface... but I'll quietly agree to disagree

I've never seen that movie... but I've seen it mentioned a lot here... I'd love to get hold of it on DVD... but the only site I saw it available from gave absolutely NO DVD details.

I'd require it to be in its original 1.66.1 ratio... and prefer PAL over NTSC.

That movie was made the year I was born

No Blade of Grass, with Nigel Davenport.

It's got a beatifully haunting title song as well, sung by Roger Whittaker.

I thought Logans Run was great although it was filled with English actors i think it was classed as an American film.

I understand a remake is in the works (due for 2010)... I wonder if the actors will get repeatedly wet so often in a remake.

I like 'Logan's Run'... but the amount of times they find excuses to soak poor Michael York and Jenny Agutter to the skin always causes me hilarity.

You're right, its not actually classed as a British movie, Carmel.

Perhaps, in the remake, Jenny Agutter will have a cameo where they simply tip a bucket of water over her head for old-times sake - lol.
