Hello 'grip' (a useful trade).
The Internet Movie Database (IMDb) is your friend for that sort of query.

Go to their search page and enter School for Scoundrels in as the movie title.

That gives a few titles. The one you want is School for Scoundrels or How to Win Without Actually Cheating! (1960). They're not just being pedantic, that was the film's full title.

Look at the details for that and it shows you that it was made by Associated British Picture Corporation (ABPC) who operated out of Elstree.

Dr Who & The Daleks from 1965 starring Peter Cushing and Roy Castle. British enough to be both naff and enjoyable, and I don't think any space creature can equal the arbitrary evil nature of the Daleks!

I also liked Flash Gordon, from about 1980 I think, which also had a very British feel to it and although the effects were not as sophisticated as they could have been for that era, I think they were trying to match the film as close as possible to the old black and white 1936 original cinema series. It was an enjoyable fantasy and the Queen song Flash was excellent. A lot of critics had a go at this film at the time, but I enjoyed it immensely and on pure entertainment value it scores a lot higher than such pretentious rubbish as Star Wars Episode 29: We Haven't Sold Enough Plastic Merchandise To Your Kids Yet!

There isn't one in that list that I could call my favourite - they all are; and many, many more too!

Good morning boys.

Crack in the World. Not a great film by any means, but the idea is fabulous and even believable (to a dill like me, anyway!) I love it in spite of its many shortcomings.

This is one film I really would like to see remade. A modern version could be fantastic.

What about NO BLADE OF GRASS? (About 1971?) If you've thrown in TRIFFIDS and 28 DAYS - those End Of World As We Know It types, I think NO BLADE OF GRASS should get a listing.

NO BLADE and Q-MASS XPER have been getting American TV airplay during the last year... finally. Now, if we can just get them on some DVD release schedule.

Having only seen it a few weeks ago, Shaun of the Dead was very entertaining, very British and very funny. Men Behaving Badly meets The Omega Man!
