One of my favorites is Dracula with Frank Langella.

I believe this was filmed primarily in Cornwall.

Dead of Night (tho I dont really class it as a horror), Night of the Demon, The Wicker Man and of course there's got to be a Hammer - Devil Rides Out.

One of my fave US horrors was broadcast on CH4 last night; The Fog.

I'm not keen on Horror movies per se so my favourite, for obvious reasons to some, would have to be An American Werewolf in London. I certainly regard The Wicker Man as a classic though.

Speaking of AAWIL - since a publicity shot from the film is used as the image for the Horror genre on Britmovie, why isn't the film itself listed or isn't it British enough?

Added for Sam

It's one of those tricky ones I'm not really sure about. Some people get very angry and will accuse you of celluloid colonisation! You will not believe the venom I once received in an email re: The Commitments - could have come straight from Deborah Kerr's lines in I See a Dark Stranger.

I'm quite fond of 'Dracula Prince Of Darkness' and its trailer. " Who would invite a dead man for dinner?"

I'd go with 'The Innocents' scared the do-dah out of me the other night.

For letting us have Walkabout, I'd willingly have accepted a 5-0 whitewash in the Ashes. Mind you, I suppose we haven't been far off that most of the time since 1970

It has to be Vampyres for me. The location, the low budget feel and low budget cast. The two vampire women were quite convincing despite being dubbed, they looked good in the nude and were also sexy as well as being vicious.

Difficult one, The Wickerman is up there, The Haunting (1963) is excellent but a couple of the characters in the film really bug me. I have a soft spot for The Devil Rides Out and Blood on Satan's Claww has a great atmosphere.

Fran, I'm getting Vampyres this week so I'll let you know what I think of those sexy, vicious, nude, blood sucking ladies. Looking forward to it.

Cheers,
A

I'll 'av 'arf

I don't understand, but I'm not with it so far this week. Having driven from Bournemouth to Edinburgh and back over the weekend I haven't quite recovered. How you can stand living up in the north FELL I'll never know. The cold, the driving rain, the gale force winds! It was 6 degrees up near Carlisle in the afternoon and at 11pm back in Bournemouth it was 16 degrees! I bet tee shirts and shorts are not the best selling items in your clothes shops up there!

Anyway, favourite horror film. No idea. Probably a Hammer because they're always a bit naff but enjoyable. Ingrid Pitt, Peter Cushing, Vinnie Price etc. I may be on my own here but I always thought The Wicker Man was a bit daft. I've not seen AAWIL at all, the word "American" in the title was enough to put me off! I liked Vampyres because the two leading ladies were probably the most gorgeous horror actresses ever, in fact in the whole wide world, but I still can't make heads or tail of the story!

Just to show it's not all glamour with JA and because I know what you'd have said if I posted one of the werewolf instead!

Well, I'm up at nearly 1000ft looking towards Hadrian's Wall and 45 miles further north to The Cheviot so 6 degrees is a pretty normal August temperature here!

Apparently AAWIL has quite a cult following among males in the 30-40 age range - not so much for the fabulous story but more to do with you-know-who. Witness the interview with one of her co-stars in The Parole Officer.

I saw that many years ago and the other night - a classic! Similar to the Clint Eastwood one - Play Misty for me
